And it premiered on no less! It also features Gwyneth on back-up vocals. It's absolutely beautiful and classic Coldplay. Definitely reminds me of the Parachutes/AROBTTH Coldplay era. https://itunes.apple.com/us/post/idsa.8e481fca-9464-11e5-8e3f-7baf19636840 (resist the urge to click this, Filip )
I don't care for Coldplay, but I didn't regret clicking play on this video. This actually sounds like a solid album. Considering I jumped on that AOAL wagon, I might give the album a shot too.
These Gwyneth Paltrow love songs are getting old. I can't see myself listening to that more than a couple of times. The studio version of Up&Up is what I want, that solo. That and Army of One.
Yeah, I didn't listen to the song, but it just seems they're milking that relationship or whatever's left of it now.
Her voice is in it for ffs, lol. I'll just skip it, no big deal. Hopefully 3/4 of the album isn't just love songs too, Ghost Stories was nothing but that so it'd be nice for more diversity.
The official video for "Adventure of a Lifetime" is out! https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10156331204980253
Quick thoughts Awesome!: Up&Up, X Marks the Spot, Army of One. Good: Fun, Amazing Day, Everglow, Bird. Dislike: Adventure of a Lifetime, A Head Full of Dreams, Hymn for the Weekend It's basically MX part 2. X Marks the Spot is my favorite thing here, and it's one of the most un-Coldplay songs they've made, odd. I feel like Ghost Stories is the better album, but AHFoDs' peaks are higher. The influences from other music artists from the past few years can be heard, "Fun" in particular sounds like an Imagine Dragons song. It's a very poppy upbeat album, it doesn't try to be anything else, and that's both a good and bad thing. It's Coldplay with some twists. 6.5-7/10. Though that may or may not go up or down a couple months from now once it's settled in. I'm happy
I agree with all of this except I do not like Amazing Day. Its MX if you up the amount of sample chops and make the drums even more hip-hop inspired. X Marks the Spot is my jam, but def the most "un-Coldplay" song of the bunch imo.
Oh great, well done Stargate, you just reached to drown Up&Up and turn it in a ìn average song. Bravo, great fucking job. When will Coldplay learn to autoproduce themselves? The live version was soooo good, what a shame. Anyway: 1) A Head Full Of Dreams - 4/5 2) Birds - 3.5/5 3) Hymn For The Weekend - 1/5 4) Everglow - 4/5 5) Adventure Of A Lifetime - 3/5 6) Fun - 3.5/5 7) Kaleidoscope - Transition 8) Army Of One - 4/5 9) X Marks The Spot - 3.5/5 10) Amazing Day - 3/5 11) Colour Spectrum - Transition 12) Up&Up - 3.5/5 (sigh)
Underwhelmed, but it could've been worse. 1) A Head Full Of Dreams - 3/5 2) Birds - 3/5 3) Hymn For The Weekend - 2,5/5 4) Everglow - 4/5 5) Adventure Of A Lifetime - 3,5/5 6) Fun - 3/5 7) Kaleidoscope - Interlude (which I liked, but feels out of place) 8) Army Of One - 3,5/5 9) X Marks The Spot - 0/5 10) Amazing Day - 3/5 11) Colour Spectrum - Interlude 12) Up&Up - 3/5
