Funnily enough, it's Weiland's former bandmates in Stone Temple Pilots, if anyone, who might appear hypocritical - and I imagine most Stone Temple Pilots fans will be comveniently blind to that - whereas Chester has never once spoken ill of him in the press.

No, but him posting sympathies after he took Scott's place in STP might rub a few people the wrong way. You know how fans can be...

To make it clear, I don't think it would be hypocritical. I just think a lot of STP fans might perceive it that way.

I don't find it entirely hypocritical. It's like divorcing your wife and while you did end what you had with her, you still will have feelings that had been hidden by whatever was going on in the present

I suppose you're right. And I'd say that that's no different for Chester either.

I was so excited to hear Chester was recording vocals in the studio as it meant new music was imminent. However now we know that's far from the truth as they're basically doing everything backwards this time around.

Maybe they'll just do an acappella album and be done with it. :)

That means all the other band members would have to learn how to sing and their music would consist solely of vocal harmonies.

    In other words, why not?

Because we want to hear more of modern guitar god. :kappa:

Well, the idea of a whole acapella album sounds good (hehe), but I think I would prefer a "normal" album. Maybe because I'm just not the person who can listen to that much acapella music. It would become boring for me too quickly, I think.

I know, I was just having fun. Every time LP makes a new album, it almost always turns out differently from what some people expected. I thought ATS was going to be super experimental and weird (for them, it was), but it ended up being pretty tame in that regard. That doesn't take away from how good the album is though. It still is experimental and risky coming from LP, a band that found success and popularity with the sound they had in the beginning. Most mainstream artists wouldn't have done what they did. I was expecting something weird, unstructured and spontaneous like Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth.

I got a good feeling about the new LP record.

...ofcourse feelings are arbitrary and pointless and do not change anything. Just feeling hopeful, I suppose. Mike's words from the podcast seemed to be a step in the right direction.

I feel the same. While I personally feel LT and THP aren't quite as strong as ATS, I can justify that by saying that the directions they were taking didn't lend itself to music that I personally found quite as interesting. This time, I'm hopeful. I have a gut feeling that they won't want to go for a third "firecracker/lively/visceral" album in a row, so I feel that this will be the album that for me, will reveal whether they can top or at least come close to ATS. Of course, I'm a little bit nervous that they won't, but honestly I still think they have it in them.
