Since 2014 we got...... - THP - Mall OST - LPU14 - LPU15 - LPU exlusive tracks - Hybrid Theory Live - Welcome - Darker Than Blood There has been a ton of material, not counting the amount of touring we got from STP/FM/LP, concert streams, Linkin Logs, Parts of the making of THP, etc.
Don't forget "Final Masquerade" acoustic. Yeah, we really have nothing to complain about. We get tons of content.
Welcome and FM acoustic are fair enough (on top of what I mentioned). The rest aren't exactly what I'd call repeatably consumable material (demos are still demos, I'd rather listen to another band's completed work, we've already seen every Hybrid Theory song performed live, the band haven't played in my country in 8 years, the band have barely performed any new songs from THP since the album dropped (only ALITS), I'm not going to watch Linkin Logs more than once, the band have barely released any of the making-ofs). The FM shows were very good, but the only recordings are in potato quality at best. The band haven't released a full completed work in nearly two years. That's a fact. Nothing wrong with that, that's quicker than a lot of bands, but that's a fact. I apologise for being excited for new music I guess?
Dude, you've got every right to be excited for new music, we all are. I'm just saying, even though all your arguments stand, we get 10x more content than, say RHCP fans. The band (primarily Shinoda and Benninton) stay engaged with us a lot in between album cycles and we, the core fans, are the first to get new info - best example being our podcast with Mike. When the new album cycle interviews start up every major music publication (Rolling Stone, Noisey, Loudwire, whatever) will be writing "the band decided to start from melodies and words this time around", same thing we got to write in December. Be excited for new music all you want, but you can't possibly deny that the band is always giving us something. I'm saying all this in a very friendly manner.
RHCP fans got the individual tracks for the vocals, guitar, bass, and drums for all 28 songs on Stadium Arcadium and got 9 other non-album songs released on singles to accompany it. YEAH, GET REKT.
What's the song that you've most dramatically changed opinion of over time? I remember when GATS came out I thought it was super meh, now it's one of my all-time favs. The opposite is true for until it breaks, I thought I would be jamming to that forever, but I got tired of it and now hardly listen to it.
When Rebellion first dropped I thought it was the shit. Now I can't help but cringe when I hear it and I absolutely detest Mike's vocals in it. Mark the Graves was pretty much the exact opposite.
Just most of the songs off the first two albums, basically. They used to be literally the only songs I'd listen to and I loved them all. Not so much now.
Not to bring up a conversation that's a few days old at this point, but just so you know I wasn't being particularly serious. Maybe the sad face didn't express that particularly well, silly internet emoticons not accurately expressing human emotion! I'm just excited for a new album because it's the only time we get to hear the band's more alternative side. As much as I love the songs between albums (and I appreciate we get a good few of them), New Divide, ALTNC, Welcome, etc., my favourite LP tracks are always the TLTGYAs, the Blackouts, the MTGs. Funny you mention RHCP, they're by no means the worst actually. They got a double album (over two hours long, as long as 3 Linkin Park albums) just four years after their last, and while they did have to wait five years for I'm With You (which is an hour long), they then got I'm Beside You (which is an hour and a quarter long) only two years later, which is actually a really great album. RHCP aren't actually the worst at releasing music in a timely manner, they just have big gaps then dump it all on you at once.
I'd say the last 3 years have ignited a new love for the band. I was worried I wasn't feeling the band no more after Living Things but THP to me was a great successor to ATS. Plus, I don't know how unpopular this opinion is, but I absolutely love Welcome. Been my jam since last summer.
