The Lonely Island's new song, "Things In My Jeep", which features Linkin Park has been released, and is now available on iTunes, Spotify and various other streaming services. The track features a couple rapped verses by The Lonely Island's Akiva Schaffer and a sung/screamed chorus and bridge by our own Chester Bennington. The track almost feels like it parodies Linkin Park's style, being very dramatic about such a light-hearted topic. Backed up by a big electronic beat, the track is humorous and a good listen. Check out the lyrics, lovingly transcribed by our moderator minuteforce below. What do you think of the track? Will you be seeing the Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping movie today? Tell us in the forums! By our very own Decay. I'm sure he will want me to take this down.
I've heard this song 3 times and It's actually growing on me. I only liked Chester's screams after the first listen but the lyrics and Andy's parts are growing on me. Also, I'm listenin to the whole album at the momeet and half way through the album 'Things In My Jeep' is definitely one of the better songs. The Lonely Island can definitely make better music than what this album shows. Also the other tbread mentiones that they heare MIke in the bacog round but I still cant hear him anywhere.
I know you guys have been discussing the song in the other news thread, and we're sorry that this news post came a bit late. Feel free to repeat any opinions/reactions you'd already posted
I barely had time to breathe these past few weeks. I got home from school, had lunch, and then immediately wrote this up. Shame we couldn't have had it up earlier but fuck it.
I dig it, it's a fun song. I mean I don't normally listen to this kind of music so I can't be so critical of it like some others on here are.
If Conner4Real was real, here is what he could say in his synopsis of the song: "This was actually the quickest song I ever did. You see I was coming back from a bitchin' fun time at the beach with (insert Celebrity name here), and then my producer called me and said that I was one song short for my album and that the deadline was that day. So I was freaking out, I pulled up to the studio and I realize, I couldn't think of any lyrics. So I was looking around and for some reason I was looking at the things in my Jeep. I saw the boxing gloves that I had from my gym training, the condoms, for obvious reasons, my blueblockers, my dress shoes that I had with me from last week's dinner event, a sharpie and three quarters, and I thought 'Holy shit! That rhymes!'. So I wrote down everything I had in my Jeep, organize them, and that became 'Thing in My Jeep'. A couple of things I had to put into the Jeep. I actually didn't have a novella in the Jeep at first but I needed something that rhymes with umbrella. There was a kid nearby reading a comic book. So I took his comic book and put it in my Jeep. Called it a novella. "And with even greater luck, right next to my recording studio was LINKIN PARK getting ready to record their own album. So I asked if they were willing to sing a couple lines for a $1000, and they did. I thought it was going to be a couple of guys though, I didn't know I had to pay all SIX band members. Should have just paid Chester."
Stylistically, it kind of reminds me of crunkcore, and the early Hollywood Undead stuff ... which, now that I think about it, was sort of proto-crunkcore in some ways
He does. I'm excited for the new album if his vocals sound like this! Edit: My signature is way too long, I'll fix that up
Plus one! I agree, his vocals sounded great. This production was also hot. I think I hear the Mike part in the chorus but I can't tell if that's Mike or Andy with deep voice.....
