July 1st 2016 Fight The Fade released their latest album. Which is also a self titled album and makes it their 4th full album if you include 2015's "Second Horizon Reimagined" acoustic/remix album. I think the album is great and I think you guys would like it. Check it out here.

The Second Horizon was an incredibly dynamic album that surprised the hell out of me. There's not a single track on that record that I don't enjoy.

Fast forward to this self-titled LP - it just feels shallow and safe. I remember being psyched for new music but "Falling" and "Lanterns" were both underwhelming radio-friendly singles so I was cautiously optimistic leading up to release. Unfortunately while those tracks were arguably the safest, the rest of the album still failed to impress. The softer "Colder" was done better before with "Breathe" and none of the 'heavy' tracks come close to "Beside The Dying Fire" or "Monolith". The rest just feel uninspired compared to something like "Rise" or "Confessional of Lies".

I'm the only person I've seen so far voicing such disappointment so I hope someone somewhere agrees with me. I understand if the band wants to release a more commercial album to gain a bigger fanbase, as they are largely unknown, but they are capable of much more than this.

Hey other people here like this band. And Atticus, I pretty much feel the exact same. This album feels so generic and safe, it was such a disappointment after Second Horizon. And the sad thing is, no tracks really blew me away. On What We Know, there were amazing tracks like A Day Is Coming and Tomorrow. On Second Horizon, there was the title track, Confessional of Lies, and Breathe. Even as a stand alone single, Seasons blew me away. But this album? I mean I enjoy Colder and Blue Windows more than the others, but they aren't on the level of past songs. This album was just meh as a whole.

I only ever checked them out because I remember you raving about them in some other thread, and the album artwork seemed interesting. I'm glad I did as Second Horizon is an incredible album and What We Know has a few stellar tracks as well. I'm glad you agree with my disappointment. Everything just felt meh here - the guitar riffs, the aggression, and even some cringeworthy lyrics. Just kind of awkward to present this album as a self-titled LP when its such a step back.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty weird to jump back and make this album their self-titled EP. Really the only thing I found consistently amazing was the vocal performances.
