Not really a "perfect" album, but one I think would have a pretty good flow to it. Throwing all my favorite songs onto one album doesn't really make sense for an actual album. Songs with transitions to other songs on the albums they were originally on would be edited, of course (such as my transition from Until it Breaks to New Divide). 1. Drawbar 2. QWERTY 3. My December (Hidden Track) I probably put way too much thought into this than I should have. My decision to put Drawbar and QWERTY at the front end of the album was inspired by Minutes to Midnight. Having an atypical track for LP opening up the album, with a heavy, hard rock song being the first "song" on the album is a great way to open an album. While I wanted to put more softer songs like Breaking the Habit in the tracklisting, having too many soft songs on an album can be a bit of a problem. So, I decided to keep the momentum QWERTY brings by placing another 2 heavy tracks after it. My album has two distinct "weird / soft" sections: Blackbirds & Waiting for the End, and 1Stp Klosr & Until it Breaks. I wanted to have a more mellow song like Waiting for the End, but placing it directly after Forgotten would be a very sudden tonal shift; it would be jarring. To fix this, I placed Blackbirds before it, as the studio drum intro thing seemed like a decent way to get to a more soft side of the album, without being jarring. To keep things interesting for a "casual fan" (assuming these are all tracks nobody have heard before), I placed A Place for My Head after Waiting for the End, and afterwards, From the Inside. From the Inside was a good choice to put after A Place for My Head, because it's still fairly heavy, but also is a good way to ease into the more weirdness of the following tracks, as it is a bit more soft. For the last two tracks of the album, I was again inspired by an album, but one that wasn't LP, but Coldplay. Their album "Ghost Stories" has a penultimate track that is more happy and triumphant (A Sky Full of Stars), followed by a more sad and dark track (Fly On). Here, I was trying to replicate that. But, the transition to New Divide and My December would be vary jarring, so having My December as a hidden track would put enough silence between them for it not to be weird. Before I thought of making My December a hidden track, I considered placing a instrumental track like Session in between them, but that would put me at 13 tracks, and I didn't want to sacrifice any of the ones I had already chosen. I much prefer the hidden track idea, since it kinda lures you into a false sense of security / happiness, and then throws My December in your face (not that New Divide is happy, it's just much more upbeat than most LP songs).
Ooh I love doing this. This is a great way to kill time on long trips, and I even just did this with another band last week I'll work on mine soon!!

"Session" "Until It's Gone" "Waiting For The End" "Until It Breaks" "Roads Untraveled" "My<DSMBR" "Rebellion" "When They Come For Me" "Issho Ni" "The Little Things Give You Away" "Halo" "When They Come For Me" (Live) Mounted it real good. EDIT: initially, I tried to fit in either the acoustic v. of "Final Masquerade" or "Three Band Terror" but their intimate acoustic singer/songwriter vibe doesn't sit well with the larger, more expansive/cinematic sounds in the rest of the tracks. That's a side of LP that I've really started to like lately and I hope to hear some of it on the next album
It's awkward using HT songs next to the rest of their discography. That album sounds very dated compared to all the other music they've made. I think most people could guess what era it came from. You can get away with even using Meteora songs with these playlists but HT doesn't connect. I want to take "Papercut" off my album. : (
Lost In The Echo When They Come For Me Keys To The Kingdom Waiting For The End Blackout In Pieces The Little Things Give You Away Guilty All The Same Rebellion The Catalyst Mark The Graves A Line In The Sand I've always liked this playlist - Echo is just such a great opener for a "best of" album, and the one-two punch into WTCFM is perfect. KTK brings the action to a peak before falling for a more subdued middle section. TLTGYA is basically the ending to the first half with GATS opening the second half firing on all cylinders. Finally, Mark The Graves is a spectacular bridging song between two epics. Originally I have Drawbar before ALITS as a calm before the storm, but it got cut to make the 12-track record. And yes, this displays my general indifference towards LP's nu-metal material at this stage in their career. Nothing in Hybrid Theory or Meteora come close to these twelve tracks, and most of their newer discography in general IMO.
I was worried about not including songs from HT and Meteora but I'm going to edit my last playlist now. I feel the same way. Would rather just have something I like than include every album out of a feel for necessity.
My list of favourite LP songs shamelessly ignores the band's first two albums, save for "Session". It's definitely nothing to be too self-conscious about, the whole point of a thread like this is to get an idea of people's preferences and stuff
Perfect LP record circa 2001 1. Papercut 2. With You 3. And One 4. Forgotten 5. Slip 6. My December 7. By Myself 8. In The End 9. A Place For My Head 10. Cure For The Itch 11. High Voltage (HT version) 12. Part of Me Papercut is a perfect opener. With You would be a slight change of pace but shows the band's ability to connect to the listener. Papercut already establishes a banger track, so One Step Closer ain't needed. And One would show the unorthodox structure for the band, with Chester on lead vocals. Of course, that rap verse needs to be on the album. Forgotten is a necessity and one of the best written songs from Hybrid Theory and shows Mike's prowess for metaphorical and conscious rapping. Slip is there because I just think it's a great song I've always liked By Myself for some reason. It feels very gritty and that chorus is powerful as hell to me. In the End is there because it's a fantastic single and one of LP's signature songs for a good reason. A Place For My Head is also an awesome mosh track with great vocals. Cure For The Itch for a nice instrumental that will lead into High Voltage where Mike will prove some verbal skill. As a closing track, Part of Me is just powerful and a highlight song from their discography imo. It's an amazing closer for the EP and it would make a good closer imo for an album. I'll make a modern day LP album containing songs from their new stuff later.
Ugh Gibs starting off with Drawbar was such a good idea, but I won't do the same so I can be different
