So Coldplay is FINALLY going to my country for the first time. I'm seriously thinking of going but the problem is... 1) Coldplay has a massive following here, and I'm afraid that it'll run out quickly. 2) It's gonna be in April here, which is EXTREMELY hot and in the peak of our summer here. It doesn't help it's an outdoor venue and it's beside the ocean. I'll get back to the venue. 3) Look at these ticket prices (from Coldplay Philippines page): In US Dollars, the VIP tickets would sell $450. God damn. I'm aiming for the Gold, which is $250 US. But at least the venue would make up for the price right? Well... 4) Look at the fucking venue, and compare it to other countries. Image from this link. There's a larger venue (The Philippine Arena, which is the biggest indoor arena in the world if I remember correctly) but the concert grounds are also owned by the ticket sellers, which also own the titular Mall of Asia, which also own...yeah, you get the point. And look at this layout. No room for the C-stage in the back. And a friend of mine, an aspiring statistician, recently posted this: (her explanation + original post here) So yeah.
So I went ahead and bought a ticket HAHAHAHAHA I guess I'm gonna eat nothing but air for the next few months :c
250 bucks? Jesus Christ. The tickets I got when I saw them in August were only about 60. They put on a damn good show though. You'll love it.
The official video for "Everglow" is out, with the Muhammad Ali outro. Damn, I love how raw the vocals and instrumentals are in this video.
Coldplay has released a Spotify-exclusive EP entitled "Live from Spotify London" with special arrangements of Everglow, Viva la Vida, Adventure of a Lifetime, Yellow and Christmas Lights. In other news, here's the audio of their Red Room sessions recently, with arrangements of Yellow, A Sky Full of Stars, Everglow, Viva la Vida, Hymn for the Weekend, Adventure of a Lifetime and Christmas Lights. And an amazing one-man acoustic version of Hymn for the Weekend last October:
So the Amazing Day global film project is out. Hopefully this gives you good vibes, wherever you are. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10158047873670253
How about the chainsmokers collab that came out today (I think)? I was really digging the track until the drop, it felt super uninspired after that. I feel like a bigger, Steve Aoki-style drop would have been a lot nicer there.
I like this song, and it hasn't soured on me, even though it clearly borrows the beats of "Roses". Probably the only Chainsmokers track other than "All We Know" that I'll listen regularly. Also, their BRITs performance: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10155063534338624
I mean, the lyrics started out sort of interesting but the track itself didn't do much for me. Comparatively, I think Heavy is a much better song, both in terms of production and structure (I saw that drop coming a mile away).
I don't really mind the song all that much, but that performance was a mess fucking lol Looked up this "Roses" song, though, and yeah: this track has pretty much the exact same drop. So it's far from original.
It wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be. Maybe because it's actually a fun song. Still, apart from the presence of Coldplay it sounds like every Chainsmoker song ever.
A 5 track Coldplay EP to be released just 2 weeks after OML! (June 2nd) 1. All I Can Think About Is You 2. Something Just Like This 3. Miracles 2 4. A L I E N S 5. Hypnotised It's kind of a throwback to their first 2 albums, a return to form. I love it, classic Coldplay piano-ballad. We've already heard "Something Just Like This" (unless this one is an alternate version), 3 other tracks to look forward to. This is a nice surprise. EDIT: His birthday is today actually
It's miles ahead of Something Just Like This, even if it sounds like another Amazing Day. I was wondering if Something Just Like This on the EP was going to be alternate "Coldplay" version as well, but I doubt we'll be that fortunate. A Miracles 2 should be interesting, since I LOVE Miracles.
