LIked the album cover before the font. This just looks like one of those brochures they used to give me at work about protecting the environment
Kiiara sounds really good in that video, I bet the way her voice sounds edited in her songs has more to do with pop producers fucking it up. Also, I don't think it's meant to be their last album just because there is a sunset there, come on, that's like saying Papercut will be the last song because it says "the sun goes down".
You forgot to mention Shadow Of The Day's "And the sun will set for you" lyric. They've clearly been foreshadowing it for a while now.
Haven't posted something in a while, but I wanted to share my feelings. I really love the cover and I don't mind them going for a pop record anymore. However: Can someone please tell me if Mike was trolling when he stated that they wrote "Heavy" with Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels? These guys worked with the likes of Bieber and Britney Spears. How can you put out a record like THP (with all the Marketing about the Radio lacking rock Music) and then go and let such people write stuff for the next record? Really disappointing if it's true.. and not authentic.
I agree. I get the impression the guys love what they do, so why woud they stop? Love Kiiara's voice btw, whether that be on her tracks with Glitch/autotune or without effects. Nice tone and very smooth.
Yeah, they're very obsessed with the word 'Sun'.. from Papercut to Shadow of the Day to A Thousand Suns, etc.
They did write the song with those people. They can do that because they don't give a fuck what any of you think, and because they want all their fans to abandon them. I dig it, though. The collaborators on this album are all very talented people, and I personally prefer today's current high-profile pop production to early-2000s nu-metal basically any day of the week.
Kiiara's voice sounds indistinctive to me... But I'm sure LP know why they chose her, and that the song will turn out to be fine and dandy
Where the heck did everyone get this insane idea that this is the band's last album? The band has not said ANYTHING of the sort . If you guys are getting that from the 'One More', you all are failing to realize that One More could be a part of an album title, it could mean there's "one more" video to go, it could mean anything. One thing I'm very certain of is that it does not mean one more album.
They used to be more fair and talk about the moon as well: I watch how the moon sits in the sky in the dark night Shining with the light from the sun And the sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming The moon's going to owe it one Seems they decided to go down the sun route only after this though, no more moon references after APFMH. Seems like discrimination to me. Why no moon lyrics?
I am not saying that these guys aren't talented. But I want to see what LP are capable of not any other person that writes stuff for manufactured artists for a living. They are a band after all. To me (I am subjective right here) the difference between them and manufactured artists has always been that they come up with their music by themselves. There is more of identification with the band as long as I know (or think I know) that they wrote the stuff.. The band used to be proud of the fact they were capable of writing these huge records by themselves and even aggressively denying they needed support to do so. Are they lacking creativity these days? Remember Mike on "Get me Gone": "We were too good to be true Some were saying ghostwriters were writing all that we do So we had to disprove it, we spelled it out To the detail, how we do it when we're making this music" This is not about the direction. I am a HUGE fan of them changing constantly.
Looking at some of those collaborators, my 14 years old self would love to scream "Those fuckers sold out". But yeah, I can dig pop nowadays, and I'll obviously give the record a chance. I guess the irritating part is that this is coming straight after THP promotion campaign. That makes them look like either hypocrites or desperate for more radio-play, even though they might genuinely wanna lean towards more poppy stuff.
