Very uninteresting song, but I can't say I'm disappointed. When I heard about Kiiara being in it, this was more or less what I was expecting. Hopefully the rest of the album sounds different and a bit more "original" and "new" or else it will be a big let down. If I turn on the radio now, I will hear dozens of songs exatcly like this one. There's nothing that cathes my attention in it. It's not as bad as "A Light That Never Comes", but honestly is not that far off either. I can't see myself listening to it again. Hopefully this was the song they "chose for the radio" and the others are a bit more ambitious.
I never said the arguments weren't legitimate ones. I just wanted to point out legitimate bitching is still bitching and I'm just gonna sit back, repeat all your comments out loud in a faux-hipster child voice and laugh at all of you while sitting at the airport. Infractions incoming!
People sure would've disagreed with you back in 2010 when it had just released. Just saying. This song might not be impressive but maybe it might fit well in the album as a whole.
...I never said it didn't? But the production and build of the song is different from the typical pop LP song. That's all I'm saying. It's not a great track, just like BID, WID, IBG, etc etc aren't. But it's less boring to me because they didn't do the same shit they usually do. I'm judging this song in the same tier as all that crap, so my standards aren't particularly high...
Social Media is also an echo chamber. And most everyone hates everything LP has put out in the age of social media for almost a decade. This is nothing new. What else is not new is me doing everything in my power to let everyone know I'm laughing at them.
I actually rather enjoyed the song. Chester sounds very vulnerable when he sings his verses. Kiiara wasn't bad either, considering I've been waiting for them to include a female vocalist to feature on one of their songs. The hook has been stuck in my head the last few days, hopefully the rest of the album will continue to impress me.
Bringing in outsiders to write for/with the band is a terrible idea. it destroys the integrity of the music. Collaboration is okay and very welcome but this is not musical collaboration. This is hiring other people to write for you. Heavy is written by Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels, and Mike Shinoda feat. Kiiara and Chester Bennington, using the brand of Linkin Park. Heavy is catchy, yes. But it sounds fake, distant, and alien to LP. Songs like Robot Boy, The Messenger, War, Valentine's Day, GATS, and Pb N' Jellyfish vary musically but they ARE Linkin Park. Heavy is not.
Well why aren't you glad that they at least tried and played with the idea of collaborating with writers out there? At least they try right?
Someone didn't listen to the interview at all. Mike explicitly stated that if it felt like a business relationship rather than friends hanging out together making music, it was thrown out. Would you like some cheese with your whine?
I totally get that some of you try to defend the band, but let's just admit it... after three years of waiting, this is a terrible disappointment.
Well that's something that's always been mind boggling to me. Why does awful pop bullshit require so many writers to produce it. I guess LP are following suit.
LP has had six band members writing shit music together for years. What does one or two extra people detract from that? Six people wrote Somewhere I Belong. Just saying.
