Yeah. Fuck it.I need to let this sink in. I don't get it. I mean, Shinoda wanted to produce the best record of LP career, and this is a part of it? Don't get me wrong. The song is okay. For a pop song, it's pretty average, but not terrible in itself. But fuck, this is nowhere close near LP best material. It doesn't touch on MTM intimacy/rawness, ATS ambition, or THP instrumentation. Plus, while experimenting with different genders, the band had always kept a core LP sound. This, on the other side, could be any random modern chart pop stuff, and Kiara vocals, while good, just make things worse in that regard.
I wonder what the response is gonna be if/when the song/album fail to resonate with any particular audience.
Why is everybody so angry? This song is very similar to Final Masquerade. I liked the first verse more than the rest of the song. Linkin Park doing dream pop would be something that I enjoy. After that is just a generic good song. It's definitely better than Burn It Down, but when compared to the rest of the main singles, I think it's only ahead of BID (maybe tied with What I've Done).
I'm trying so hard to like this song, Listened to it about 50 times since its so short I just cant.... it feels like im listening to beiber or selena gomez. Hardly any guitars and drums, its just straight up pop, maybe even worse than whats on the radio. Linkin Pop
Definitely would agree. I don't think many songs played at this moment have the energy from the live drums mixed in with the piano and beat. It brings a lot of energy that i don't think many pop songs currently have. Not in this kind of form anyway. I could be wrong but from what ive heard i believe that Also Chester and Kiiara's voice are an interesting add as well. Thats more generic pop that we've seen buti think it works well. Is the song perfect. No. But i think it brings a lot of energy and allows LP to open up to more genres they usually wouldn't be exposed to.
Not to mention Shinoda should really be faced with the biggest hypocrisy of their career, aka THP promotion campaign. Even him admitting he was bullshiting back then would be good enough. But now, there is just that silent toxic contradiction going on, and it's pretty annoying.
For those who do like the song, listen to a Sia album. I'm not being sarcastic. This song sounds like it would make a great Sia song, only Sia would do it better.
Kiiara is the only collaboration on the album as far as performance goes..they did however bring in orther people for songwriting (but they are not really featured on the track)
No? I'm saying that if anyone is into this song, I think it is likely they would enjoy Sia's music even more. It's a recommendation.
+1 Heavy is not a bad song if we're talking about the current mainstream musical landscape. It's short and catchy enough to be viral hit. But this sounds like it can be Sia's, Bieber's, The Chainsmokers', Zayn Malik's, and whatever catchy song is on YouTube with a hundred million views. This could even fit in Taylor Swift's 1989.
I would appreciate this song so much more had they just done a full production version of the stripped down version with just piano and a clean guitar.... Seriously.
