Exactly. We're all just waiting for the end anyway. When that shadow of the day is cast, when they come for me, I hope you keep me in your memory... and leave out all the rest.
I'm at the point where I hope Linkin Park ends their contract at Warner Bros and go full indie. They need to stop appealing to the radio!
I agree. YouTube is basically 100% hate for this song. Hint: Hyperbole. It's probably more like 70% hate. The 100K who left a like on the video are probably just regular listeners who aren't massive LP fans.
Linkin Park's new single "Heavy" has hit 2 million views in 24 hours. Off to a great start! Wouldn't be surprised if it hits 3 million by tomorrow morning at 7am (end of day 2)
I've had people who I had no idea would ever even listen to LP write me and go "hey I like that new track". So for better or worse, it's getting people to check LP out.
Doesn't matter if they are massive fans are not. If they like the songoing they like song. The fact of the matter is there are a lot of people out there who like the song. It's also proven that people are more likely to comment on something of they don't like and you have seen how LP YouTube videos are. So if you go off of YouTube likes which is a bad idea anyway, it's more like 70% of people are in favor of this song.
Other than "The Messenger" (??), there was a time the band was competing with The Black Keys over who gets #1 in the Alt Songs chart. LP had Catalyst and WFTE while Black Keys had Howlin for You and Tighten Up. As I was an immature high schooler, I was wondering how tf can someone edge out LP's chart dominance in Alt Songs, so I listened to their stuff and liked their stuff. One thing led to another and I started liking blues, but it's not very high on the list of music I listen to. Sometimes I like new genres based on LP fan remixes and Mike's recommendation playlists.
Like I said on LPL last night, this song is PERFECT for radio. Short, all vocals, and catchy. People in here this morning said they are already hearing it on radio stations. Things arreally looking good for Linkin Park!
I know that. They never have for any of their albums. But maybe, just maybe, if they weren't under a major label company they wouldn't feel any obligations to appeal to a mass audience. It could put them in a different mindset.
I am sure you gave it your best but damn... that is some time wasting and in the end...it doesn't eeeeeven mmaaaaaaake sense.
Has anyone ever thought that perhaps the band actually likes making pop songs every once in a while? Don't see how it can be shocking for the band to make such a song. They've been doing it forever.
It's not terrible and I will probably listen to it a few times but man this one is not going to have lasting appeal at all. I hope the rest of the album is more inspired. I would put it on the same level as Darker than the blood, maybe a bit above it because the vocals are interesting.
I totally agree (I wouldn't be an LP fan if I didn't ), and many of my favourite songs of all time are pop songs. While I don't particularity like the song, I'm glad others are digging it, and at the end of the day, as you said, if you like it you like and if you don't you don't. Personally, I'm gonna hope that the rest of the songs on the album have a bit more depth to them, but I'm not going to go out and scream at the band for "selling out". They made the album they wanted to make, and that's okay with me.
