I definitely think they're at least smart enough to drop the video some time this month

On a side-note, since Shinoda can nail this production style, I think it would be cool if he did production for pop acts (like Kiiara, maybe) on the side.

Tomorrow would make sense, because its the date of the physical release of the single.

Interesting how songs like "Heavy" can actually be classified as "rock music" today. I suppose the very definition of what "rock" is has been changing for quite some time. We know that "rock" is more than just loud guitars and live drums, as it has a distinct vocal styles, as well as lyrical styles, too. This is especially true with the emergence of the many sub-genres from the original "Rock N' Roll", including "Classic Rock" and even "Hard Rock".

Funny thing is, songs like "Heavy" populating rock station playlists is what inspired "The Hunting Party".

LP might get nominated "Best Rock Song" or "Best Rock Video" at the next Billboard Awards

    I totally agree with this

A local rock radio station where I live drastically changed over time since 2008

They went from playing artists like: The Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Blink-182, Nirvana, Shinedown, Rise Against, Bush, Silvers Pickups, The Offspring, Rancid, Muse, Spubdgarden etc

To artists like: The Black Keys, The Gorrilaz, Bleachers, Fitz and the Tantrums, Of Monsters and Men, Bob Moses, The Lumineers, etc

Not all Rock stations are changing (s/o 97.8 KUPD in Phoenix), but a lot of what is defined as rock is changing.

Back in the day I'm sure bands like Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin wouldn't be considered hard rock but just rock.

Honestly, it's probably being played on rock stations because it's Linkin Park.

That's the good thing about developing good relationships with radio stations. They still play you even when you're not the genre they represent.

Nah, all the radio stations in Washington stopped playing Linkin Park after WFTE

But if you talking about change in sound then yes, you are right.

Mike was 100% correct on his comments during THP cycle

Totally not LP related, but this is very on point on the current LP vs the nu-metal nostalgia fans.
    (4:17 - 4:55)

Sure in the past, M2M cycle maybe (can't remember) the Band have stated similar statements, but people are quick to forget how they feel about their "nu-metal-past" and why they won't do a HT3.

Similarly watching Heavy covers on youtube with screaming and or rapping makes me cringe hard. It sounds so wrong and unfitting.

Still I think It sucks cause I was watching all kinds of interviews (from all throughout the history" and Mike himself mentioned the "unique LP style" "hating bubblegum pop" "not wanting to be generic" all back to MTM.

So the new Motionless in White song that came out yesterday called "Loud" is suffering the same fate that I've seen a lot of Comments on about Heavy.

People are saying they would like the song if it wasn't a Motionless in White song. Lots of people says it would make a great Breaking Benjamin song but not a MIW song. :timothy:

A good song is a good song. People need let go of the expectations they painted in their head and appreciate the song if they think it's good, regardless of who released it.

I get there are people who dislike Heavy and Loud all together but please, please don't dislike it because it's not what you were expecting. Take the song at its core value. Do you like what you hear? Yes, then who cares who released it. No, then hopefully it grows on you.

Okay, but there's nothing at all in "Heavy" that puts it anywhere near bubblegum pop

Mike said he hated that indie pop is getting played on rock stations instead of actual rock music, not that he hates pop of any sort. Heavy doesn't sound like indie pop, it sounds like a pop song over a minimal trap beat and with some soft rock thrown in.
