Linkin Park's European press tour continues today (March 27) with Mike and Chester doing promotion in Paris, France. Their first stop was in Amsterdam, Netherlands on Friday where they announced a headline show for Amsterdam at the Ziggo Dome on June 20th. They also hosted a special live event on Facebook where they answered fan questions and played four acoustic songs. Mike and Chester will be doing the same today in Paris at a special event hosted by Virgin Radio France.

    01. Heavy
    02. Battle Symphony (Live Debut)
    03. What I've Done
    04. Burn It Down

We also uploaded the live debut of Battle Symphony to YouTube which you can watch below:

    10AM PST | 1PM EST | 6PM GMT | 7PM CEST

The page information states Mike and Chester will be performing four acoustic songs again. The event will be live streamed on Facebook at the link and times listed above.

This cycle has very strange promotion. Instead of performing award shows or talk shows as a group, it's just Mike and Chester going around doing acoustic sets and talking about the album. I'm not sure if it's the right way to promote it, but we'll see.

It's a bit weird alright, especially since the live version of Heavy is so radically different to the studio version, which I'd imagine would be a bit confusing for the people they're trying to promote the album to.

Honestly, I know there's no reason to get my hopes up, but if we don't get an acoustic EP of some sort after OML I'll feel they'll have wasted a perfect opportunity.

Dunno about you but I've seen plenty of artists go around and perform acoustic versions of their singles.

You also don't follow enough bands, apparently.

I just did a random search for a bunch of random bands that are popular doing acoustic renditions of their recent singles whilst promoting said song/album. You might recognize a few of these names.

    It's a fairly common occurrence.

I'm hoping they play something new like what they did at WBR. But I seriously doubt it.

Edit - Oh wow. They are playing Battle Symphony!

    Well done?

I mean I'm not sure if you try to miss people's points intentionally or if it's just a hobby of yours, but no one's saying "hurr durr Linkin Park are the only band to do acoustic renditions of their singles evaarrrr". I'm just saying that it's not usual for a band to promote their highly electronic lead single with exclusively acoustic renditions with only 1/3 of the band present. Did any of the bands you list above only play their new single in its original form only once within the first 40 days (and counting) of release? And even if you can find an example (which I'm sure you can), are you really trying to say it's the norm?

Battle Symphony sounded pretty good in this piano version - despite Chester seeming a little nervous at times, he still did the song justice.

The performance of Heavy was a bit more shaky.

Wish they'd play Powerless. What's the deal with them never playing that song?

Those melodies are so amazing and i'm sad that all they could build in instrumental/sounding aspects were those generic eletronic beats.

    ---

Brad couldn't even play this song when recording the video clip, that's why he barely appears on it.
LP write the songs and then forget all about them few days after.

Chester sounded a little off-key here at points, felt off. Whereas I vastly prefer the piano rendition of "Heavy", I like the studio version of BS more. I wonder if this is how'll they'll play these songs when they're touring or if it'll be the studio version. I can definitely see them mashing these songs up in the same vein as SOTD/LOATR/Iridescent.

Chester said Interesting things about OML:
    • There's tons of guitars on the album but they're not so obvious.
    • The guitars have different pedals & effects and sounded like strings & pads.
    • Sonically the album is really complex.
    • The lyrics might be depressing but the music is happy sounding.

It's not so much that they forget songs, it's more that not all of them play on every song in the studio, so they have to figure out who's playing what for the live arrangements, and inevitably some of them have to learn songs they never played on or parts that someone else originally played. Mike played like 75% of the guitar parts on Living Things, so any time they added songs from that album to the set, Brad had to learn the majority of them.
