A well that's odd, didn't know the whole album was released. You must have heard a leaked copy for you to make that judgement.

Invisible has better lyrics than over half of LT.

To anyone complaining about the length of the album:

    Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (39:43, 11 tracks)
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon (42:49, 10 tracks)
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (35:57, 13 tracks)
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (39:52, 13 tracks)
    Marvin Gaye - What's Going On (35:38, 9 tracks)
David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (38:29, 11 tracks)
    Ramones - Ramones (29:04, 14 tracks)

These albums are all in the conversation for best albums of all time. All of them are fairly short affairs and/or have a small number of tracks on them.

Am I saying that short albums are always better? No. The White Album exists. So does The Wall, and The Fragile.

Am I saying that OML will be on this level? Not necessarily.

What I AM saying is a short play length does not a bad album make.

35 minutes is alright for 10 tracks, in my opinion. "Hybrid Theory" is 37 minutes with 12 tracks

All of their albums are kinda short, so I don't mind.

The new alt-J album only has 8 songs. I hear it clocks in at just under 40 minutes though, and the first single/intro track is 5:00. Super excited for that, just two weeks after One More Light

I'm completely okay with this. I love long albums too, but they tend to drag on a bit. The new Gorillaz album is amazing, but it's over an hour long and that makes it hard to listen to in one sitting (the way I prefer to listen to albums). It's also 26 tracks long which is insane. 10 tracks with just 35 minutes is totally fine with me

You're new, so it's okay for you to think this.

But we're talking about LP fans. By and large the majority of LP fans don't understand what reason and/or logic is.

It's so ridiculous. People just bitch about every single thing...I mean my god. Just listen and enjoy, or at least try. Don't just give up for it being pop or it being too short or whatever the current complaint is lol. It's so confusing to me why people are so close minded, then when someone calls them out for being ridiculous they argue " hey! I can have an opinion!". Every single time this band does something it's too this, too that, not enough this, not enough that. This fanbase needs to chill lmao.

When I first heard Battle Symphony I was like "aw crap...don't really like it". But now I play it every day on my way to work lol. When music grows on me it's the BEST. I love it. Not saying be like me, but give things a chance. Even Adam from WB was like "jeez guys..."

I'm over the fact that this album isn't long already, and it's a decent time length honestly. Not surprised OML is the longest song as well.

I'm so psyched. I have a weird feeling that it's gonna leak in a few hours.

As for the length, 35 minutes is actually a good length. There are so many great albums that barely touch the 35 minute mark, it's not an issue really. So far the quality of the songs has been top notch IMO, and I still haven't heard 5 tracks. Sure, it's pop, but they're doing a really good job at it. Love the overall vibe of these songs and the direction they're going in. Invisible has great atmosphere and is plain beautiful, and so is Battle Symphony. Good Goodbye has top notch production and experimentation with each different verse/chorus having something different. Heavy is my least favorite but the first half of the song is sleek and would probably work way better in the context of the album. Count me in.

They've released/played so many songs roughly 3:30-4 minutes in length and they've mad it very clear this is a "pop song" album, how long would it have reasonably stretched?

Love it. Each song we didn't already know the length for except for Sharp Edges is a great length. Only reason I wish Edges was longer is because it's the closer.

    If it's a good song though, I won't care that it's 2:58.

There's a bit of a trend for albums to have more tracks so that they gain traction - plays - on Spotify and the like. These albums are more like grab-bags for people to pick and choose from for their own playlists. "Views" and "Starboy" are just two prominent examples from last year, as FACT brings up in this article. Drizzy took it one step further earlier this year by simply promoting his recent full-length release "More Life" as a straight-up playlist as opposed to a traditional album.

Now, it's probably not intentional but, with its compact length and having only 10 tracks, "One More Light" is a little against the grain. On the other hand, having short songs with straightforward song structures makes it easier for the band to get their songs slotted into pop radio playlists and such.

Quite a few albums that I really, really like are 10 tracks long. I prefer those more succinct works to a 13+ track albums that I feel would include filler.

It's like TV shows having 10 episodes vs 23. Hopefully that's the case here and we get some
    excellent tracks.

Friendly reminder for folks that One Step Closer is 2:36 long and was a smash single.
