It'll actually be Thursday. Because in New Zealand, Thursday is Friday. And it releases a day earlier because of timezones.
Gosh I hope so. I'm tired of replaying Heavy over and over again. The only thing worse would be getting stuck on the "It's a Small World" ride listening to that song play over and over again. Scary.
I agree LP aren't as big as what they used to be especially in the States. I mean I have friends, CO workers, even my boss says "you still listen to Linkin park" "who listens to Linkin park anymore "" are they still even around. the fact is LP has been on the decline for sometime. The casual listener will always remember LP for HT and Meteora. Today's mainstream listeners won't care about OML doesn't matter if it's pop or metal. So the masses won't eat up the new LP. Imo I think LP peaked along time and they just trying to stay relevant in today's music of pop and rap Good Goodbye is a good example. They band can reinvent themselves all these want and experiment but their time has come and gone, they are just not relevant anymore like they used to be.
I think the issue is it that all the songs you mentioned were pop but still had rock in them. Heavy literally is just pop.
I don't live there, so it doesn't matter to me. I'll quit right here though since I've seen how argumentive you can be over stupid shit that doesn't matter.
It's hard to stat relevant for 17 something years and besides all I hear on the radio these days is pop and old pop/rock music. It's hard to be relevant if you're not played on radio and special tv stations. I think they're trying and more or less succeeding in staying on the music scene for this long. They should get praised at least for that. Most people here don't know they still exist let alone they're about to release another album. That's why they're doing all these promotions.
Suprising that some people connect relevance often with the US market only. But this is no phenomenon exclusive to music, saw it with movies too, when people try to make their point. Regarding the leak: It will happen on Wednesday since that is the day our local supermarket will "break" the streetdate once again and I am sure it won't be the only one. There is no official confirmation of them but they sold Living Things and THP two days prior official release so I assume they will aim for the hattrick!
Exactly this! USA isn't the fucking world, there are more than 200 countries on this planet. and Linkin Park have huge fanbases in Germany, Japan, Australia & Brazil.
For anyone still using Heavy as an indicator on the album, it's probably the weakest track on the album. If I had to pick songs that are less impressive than the others it would be Heavy and Battle Symphony, which were the first two songs released. The rest of the record is leaps and bounds better.
Well, I've never called Heavy uninspired or something, but it's musically so simple and basic, the whole song is just those chords repeated. but my question is are there some interesting stuff going on the album? in terms of chord progression, tempo changing, and vocal delivery?
Out of interest, why do you think it was chosen as the lead single? I personally really like the song, but appreciate it's fairly basic chord and structure-wise. If it is genuinely the weakest track, then I'm going to absolutely love this album.
