With pop now out of the way, which style do you think Linkin Park should try and tackle for their next album? Me, personally, I'd like to see them try and create a mix of folk and industrial. That'd be pretty cool.
I think the pop style will be staying around for quite a bit, they seemed very proud of it in a way they haven't been with an album in as long as I can remember. I'd like to see them take another crack at the ATS style "throw it all at the wall and see what sticks" album, but given that records troubled recording I doubt they'd ever throw themselves into such an experiment again. How the hell would industrial-folk work, by the way?
Some of you might hate me a bit for this, but I actually want to see LP return to a rap-rock format, not necessarily nu-metal. A rap-rock style that would feature the evolution of songwriting displayed in ATS, the technical and aggressive instrumentation of THP, and the melodies/harmonies heard throughout MTM and LT. As in, a blend of the best, or most memorable elements of most of their albums post-Meteora. I know with almost absolute certainty that this won't happen, but it's still a pleasant thought nonetheless. Sorry folks, I haven't fully gotten over the outcome of OML, especially its production cycle. The band has six members; they more than capable of writing the songs themselves, as they've displayed time and again. I still can't believe they really had to "collaborate" with all of those producers and songwriters for individual songs.
Sounds like Rebellion to me dude, just minus the rapping, which we all know is the weakest element of Linkin Park right now. I just want a return to an ambitious sound. Say all you want about One More Light, but it certainly wasn't ambitious.
I agree with this. I think they'll do another album down that route for two reasons. One, they seemed to enjoy it a lot, like Blackee says. Secondly, it's expected for the band to drastically change their sound again for the next album. What would be unexpected? To make another album in the same style as the last one.
I'm all for it. Even if they continue down a poppier route, this would be absolutely cool if they did so in a very weird/abstract fashion.
I wouldn't mind a post-rock/shoegaze album from them. The guitars on One More Light gave me that vibe, and ever since, I haven't been able to drop the idea from my mind. I also wouldn't mind them staying on this Pop sound at all.
I had that idea for a while but don't know if LP would pull it off convincingly. Brad has a lot of shoegazy sounds but it never leads their music in that direction. Would be cool though
*Lashes out twice, once as a joke* "Chester has got to stop being such an asshole and lashing out, how immature of him." Okay then...
