Lies Greed Misery: Perhaps the worst thing the band has ever written. It's an abomination of a song, and just should not exist. Aural diarrhea. Runaway: The epitome of shitty, angsty Linkin Park lyrics. All for Nothing: Chester's shouted vocals in the chorus make me want to shoot myself. A Line in the Sand: LP's attempt at doing something a bit more Proggy. An utter mess. Victimized: This song blows. Crawling: Moreso the lyrics, than the music. There's some interesting stuff going on in the verses, but the chorus just ruins it. Nobody's Listening: Those lyrics, my God. Valentine's Day: Couldn't care less what the subject matter is. This song makes me cringe every time I hear it.
Damn... I really love that song a lot, I actually think it's one of the best songs that Linkin Park has ever written. But I guess everyone has their own opinions, that's what this thread is about, after all.
Screw the haters, I love them both ☺. But to be fair there's not a single song I dislike from the first 3 albums. Okay, all of this has me triggered. Man. [I removed AFN and ALITS from the quote] I respect your opinion though S/o Gibs
Haha I didn't expect a lot of these. There's nothing I would say I "can't stand". But I very rarely listen to pushing me away, easier to run, I'll be gone, good goodbye, or sharp edges. I guess you could say that I can't stand I'll be gone is what it is, after hearing the awesomeness that is Primo lol. I'm surprised at the hate for LGM, I wonder if the same reactions would exist if it was on ATS, an album full of stuff just as weird?
I think people don't like the lyrics of LGM is why. I personally love the song and the lyrics though. One of my favorite Linkin Park songs
These are the ones I reall can't stand and can't remember the last time I listened to them: Runaway, Cure for the Itch, A Line in the Sand, Until It Breaks, The Messenger (the last being being the most annoying).
Chester's screaming is actually what drew me into Linkin Park to begin with. I heard his screaming on songs off of Hybrid Theory and Meteora and I fell in love. And then I fell further in love with songs like Qwerty, Given Up, Bleed It Out and No More Sorrow because of it as well. He has a really unique voice when he screams, and I really love his screaming and aggressive style vocals. I listen to tons of different kinds of metal music and 99% of the vocals are all kinds of screaming, but for some reason, I love Chester's screaming the most, even though he doesn't do it often anymore. Ironically, I don't really like The Hunting Party at all, even though it had a lot of it, it didn't deliver the punch that songs like Qwerty and Given Up did in terms of it for me. Don't get me wrong, I also love his singing as well, and I loved all the other elements of the band up until after Minutes To Midnight, but the screaming was definitely a highlight for me.
I think the verses are well written and Chester's vocal performance is great, but the chorus has been meme'd to death and it along with the band are solidified as the go to response/reference to anything edgy. I think it's one of their funnest songs, but funnily enough I really only see it mentioned when people are discussing the band's worst songs. The short though dense duration of it gives a lot of replay value for me along with the album as a whole.
My top 10 of songs I can´t stand are the following (there´s no order, I just don´t like these songs as much as the other ones): Guilty All The Same (just can´t stand Rakim´s rap, Mike would do it 100 times better) In Between (this one could have been much better layered) Wretches and KIngs (meaningful, but in terms of how it sounds ot doesn´t get my attention) Wisdom, Justice and Love (same as Wretches and Kings) Heavy (just too poppy for me) Battle Symphony (better than Heavy, but also sounds too generic) Halfway Right (just don´t like the lyrics) Hands Held High (just a pointless song in my opinion) Jornada Del Muerto (as pointless as Hands Held High) Lies Greed Misery (just couldn´t stand it when it came out, now I like it a bit more, but still not as much as other songs)
Lies Greed Misery is probably the only one. Some of their older songs have bad lyrics, too, but most of them have huge sentimental value for me. I feel nostalgic listening to them. Burn It Down studio version isn't that good either, but it works really well live imo. I have to admit I don't care much for their Collision Course collaborations with Jay Z. But I don't hate them.
