I've wanted for so long a Mike solo album, and what I had hoped to see if LP decided to go on a hiatus after an album. Yet, it's all so bittersweet given the circumstances that led to this. With how he's handled the loss of Chester and the way it's inspired him, he's a class act.

P.S. Mike, on the off chance you happen to browse this thread, please come to Philly :come2brazil:

    This is great news.

Seeing the pictures and videos of Mike and the fans at the shoot made me smile. They all look so happy and it kinda makes me feel like everything will be ok eventually <3

Do you have any inside info as far as the future of LP or are you just alluding to Chester’s passing?

He's just talking about Chester's passing and everything that's happened in the wake of that.

Even if Derek had inside information, I doubt he'd be able to share it right now anyway.

Telling y'all right now, the Mike debut solo album will be the ONLY thing I listen from the moment I get my hands on a copy.

I kind of hope he would include the finished version of LFAA.

No inside info. Just talking about Chester's death.

And even if one day I do get early info (which I do not currently possess but will probably happen sometime this year I'm sure), I wouldn't betray Mike or the label/publicist's trust sharing it anyways. Sorry guys. Embargoes exist for a reason.

Understood. We wouldn't want you to do anything that would jeopardize your relationship with the band.

It's painful yet absolutely beautiful to see Mike take refuge in his music and art in the wake of Chester's passing.

As for the album itself, I hope it's different from the sound of the Post Traumatic EP.

I love how he seems to be more happy to be there with you than you with him.

And the funny thing is, as crazy as it may be to imagine given that JayRod is a undoubtedly huge fan...that probably is the case . Mike seriously loves the fans, and it's refreshing as hell honestly.

One of my big regrets is not being able to get to see a show before Chester passed. I'm in a part of NZ that got overlooked quite often after the earthquake here. If Mike comes here, or LP in a new tour, I'll definitely try to make the show and hopefully get to snap a pic like that. :)

I really hope that this is just a side-project while working/planning on a Linkin Park new album.
I'm really worried about the guys more than any other time before.
Shinoda is a smart guy he knows how to continue LP work despite the absence of Chester.

How awesome was it that the fans that were there to hear that song honored Mike's request to not record it?

    Talk about respect.

They'll be continuing. Mike has said as much on twitter.

They just need to answer a lot of questions to themselves first and figure out exactly what a 'Chester-less' Linkin Park would be like, and that'll take some time to figure out. Meanwhile, we have Mike's badass solo music to enjoy :).

I agree 100%. While the entirety of the band Linkin Park will need some more time to decide how to return to the music world, it gives them time to expand as artists in their own rights especially Mike who is already established. While the circumstances are awful, the music Mike will make fueled by grief and other emotions, it will be the best return to his form. Post Traumatic EP was some of the best Mike Shinoda I have heard in a long time and I feel like he found his fire again. It's bittersweet but beautiful.

It's interesting how pure art can come from tragedy. Alice In Chains is another great example of this. A lot of Black Gives Way To Blue deals with Layne's passing, and it's one of the better rock albums of the last 10 years. I have a feeling the next LP record/Mike solo record will follow the same greatness.
