Man, we need a thread to post rap stuff that isn't really worthy of a whole thread about it. Or at least I need that.

So much fucking incredible stuff lately. And these next few months are gonna be insane. Kanye, Kanye and Cudi, Pusha T, Nas, Drake, Brockhampton... and so on. We're also not far from Travis Scott and A$AP Rocky... Post Malone just dropped a great record. Tyler the Creator has been on fire this past year. Also getting into the younger crew like Denzel Curry, Famous Dex and Playboi Carti. Idk, so much to discuss! What hip hop are you guys listening to?

This has to be my absolute favorite song of the year so far:

I feel like I need this thread, lol.

Okay that first track is fucking fire. I need to get into more British stuff, Stormzy and some Foreign Beggars are basically all I know. Liked the second track aswell, just wish it was a bit more of a banger, though I get that's not everyone's thing lol. Great flow on the third track, needs a stronger beat.

This is sick for anyone into really energetic stuff. Wish more rap had this sort of live instrumentation.

Check out the whole High Focus records artist roster! (the first two rappers I posted are part of their team) They're killing it. So many great MCs and releases.
Plus check out Task Force [a group consisting of Chester P (one of my all time favourite British MCs) & Farma G), Phi-Life Cypher [Life MC (one of the all time greatest UK-Rappers) & Si-Phili], Rhyme Asylum (no longer active, but Skirmish is doing some solo stuff) and Jehst (his first album is a classic)

Key! dropped 777. Really dope project if you're into Atlanta sound. Also was one the originators of the "Aye!" flow.

Anyone into this guy? He's like a living dictionary. Quite impressive! I'm hooked on his stuff right now.

I'm very much uninterested in living dictionaries. I make occasional exceptions when Shinoda remixes their songs.

None Shall Pass and The Impossible Kid are the only Aesop Rock albums I've listened to, and they're both great. I had the latter on repeat for most of 2016. "Rings" was a hella good song, with a crazy video to boot.

    --

I've got the day off work ahead of a 15 hour shift tomorrow - so, today, I'll be using this time to listen to the following albums that I've had queued up for the past week or two. I doubt I'll get into all of these today, but I'll have definitely listened to a good chunk of this list (if not all of them) by next Wednesday.

    Die Lit by Playboi Carti
Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation by Dr. Octagon
    PRhyme 2 by PRhyme
A Girl Cried Red by Princess Nokia
Elevators (Act I & II) by Bishop Nehru
Czarface Meets Metal Face by MF DOOM & Czarface
    Consumers Park by Chuck Strangers
Book Of Ryan by Royce Da 5'9''
    Veteran by JPEGMAFIA
Not For Sale by Smoke DZA
Everything's Fine by Jean Grae & Quelle Chris
    2 Heartless by Moneybagg Yo
    GANGIN' by SOB X RBE
    Cocoa Sugar by Young Fathers
Vacation In Hell by Flatbush ZOMBiES
    Imperial by Denzel Curry
A Strange Journey Into the Unimaginable by MURS
    Bless Yo Trap by Smokepurrp

    EDIT:

NEW LIL B ALBUM. ALL MY PLANS ARE CANCELLED - LISTENING TO THIS ON REPEAT.

There's a one minute snippet of (I guess) "What Would Meek Do?" on Twitter, with Kanye's verse... oh my god. It's perfect.

Why do you say that? There's not much stuff that I personally just write off. I listen to a fuckload of truly dumb shit, and I love it.

just from my experience here the past couple years. I'm just gonna be me though, so it's nothing. I listen to more mainstream rap and that tends to get clowned a lot on these forums. I mean... I like Kendrick, Nas and A Tribe Called Quest, but I also like Future, Rae Sremm and Migos. I already regret saying that tbh.

I don't even talk about what I listen to anymore, not worth dealing with the feedback lol. Like I said, I'll just be myself and keep to myself. I can live with that

yeah kinda but I have gotten shit for being a fan since way before joining LPA lol. You gotta get used to that if you listen to Ye. People always have to bring up another rapper like Kendrick or something like RTJ to put you down for being a Ye fan. It's bullshit but whatever.

Trap is still the most popular thing out, and this thread started off with a Rocky video. One or two people who might be obsessed with having contrarian attitudes about current mainstream rap (no hate, BTW, u do u), they don't represent all of the hip-hop fans on LPA. This isn't r/linkinpark

Anyway, I noticed I'm in a phase lately where I have no hip-hop on rotation other than some tracks from Push's album, Shinoda's album, some of the recent Yeezy stuff.

I am not embarrassed to say Migos, Gucci, Future, etc. are just as important to hip hop as any 90s act. You shouldn't be embarassed. It says a lot more about someone who only listens to underground/anti-mainstream rap then it does to those who listen to a variety of it.
