https://open.spotify.com/album/6yC6aLzX5knhWpKDidwxft Thoughts? Honestly I'm not really a fan. Yeah it's experimental and different but this simply isn't what I'm looking for when I'm listening to BMTH. I hope this isn't an indication for a new direction.
Wow. Upon first listen, this "EP" is better than amo, and I already loved that album. The only song I'm not really a fan of is Underground Big. Granted, I like the first 4 minutes, but listening to someone quietly talk over a repeating vocal loop for 20 minutes is not exactly what I'm looking for when listening to music lol. Otherwise, I'm a big fan of this project and loved all the experimentation involved. On previous albums it seems like a lot of their songs have been getting too formulaic, but this throws that all out the window.
Is it fair to call their new album a 2020 album? December 27th Release Date is whack man. Imma put in on my 2020 list for albums like a music critic would. Only on first track now, lets hope it’s better than disastrous Amo.
Honestly, not counting the 20 minutes of talking that was Underground Big, their collaboration with Halsey was probably my least favorite song on the EP. Halsey just doesnt interest me much anymore
In the last couple of weeks BMTH started to post short videos of them recording new music as a quarantine project, and let me tell you those snippets sound incredible! I hope that means a new album/EP is coming soon. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2Gc4X16NxB7fFj49m5bhU25MfM6R3sjj
Obey might be the best song they have released since Sempiternal. amazing work! Love that they decided to make a heavy song again.
Noooottttt to be a contrarian or anything, but Obey is one of the worst songs BMTH has released in a loooonnng time. It's not just the heaviness of the song that turns me off (I thought Parasite Eve was pretty decent, and that song packs a bit of a punch). This song feels like it was made in the 2000s and got trapped in a time capsule until now... and that's not a compliment. Also, the cover art is absolute trash. After staring at screens all day with classes and homework, it instantly gave me a headache. Not a great first impression. I thought this band was headed on the right track after the surprise release of Music to... GO TO, but these past few singles have really felt pretty derivative.
Derivative from who? if anything than the majority of those scene bands are just copying anything they do right now. This song is definitely good but I would never call it one of their best.
I get major Cross Off vibes from Obey. I can only imagine how amazing this track would be with Chester featuring instead of Yungblud. After this, Ludens and Parasite Eve, Bring Me the Horizon have quickly become my most anticipated band. Absolutely loving the aggressive cyberpunk sound and they're nailing the "I don't give a shit" attitude without sounding overdramatic or edgy. They sound genuinely pissed off at the state of the world. And they've really honed the craft of writing a great fucking chorus.
"This song feels like it was made in the 2000s and got trapped in a time capsule until now... and that's not a compliment." Sounds like a compliment to me. Why not replicate the best era of music? I mean you aren't wrong with their last two albums but this new song sounds like they are back on the right track
Great song! Love the heaviness! Best one since Sempiternal? Don't know about that, Ludens and Parasite Eve were good, That's The Spirit and Amo were good, too. What I like about them is that they do whatever the fuck they want. They go from heavy to Pop, Electronic, experimental stuff (the last EP) and now back to heavier stuff.
