So far this whole EP sounds fire! Teardrops is great. Love the LP influence. Heard Kingslayer (feat. Babymetal) as well (song already leaked) and wow... I'm not really a fan of Baby Metal but that was something else. That song is quite heavy for modern BMTH standards. Reminds me of Crossfaith. (Japanese Metalcore/Electronicore band) I like that Oli's vocals are getting better and better and that some of his screams are back.
I'm not sure I would call Teardrops "oozing" with Meteora influence but I can hear dabs of it. I hear classic Sempiternal-era-and-on BMTH primarily. Great song though, I like it a lot. Kingslayer is nutty. I also don't care for Babymetal but damn that was crazy. I love that Oli is screaming again; reminds me of There Is a Hell, which was my intro to BMTH. Is this the Bring Me the Horizon edition of The Hunting Party?
Once again ruined by a terrible feature (what's up with they're obsession with gimmicky artists?) but damn the heavy parts sound amazing also love the crazy structure and chaotic feel. They could easily start doing Metalcore again and it will sound great.
True, they went down with their past two releases but now they are back to going up. This album is straight fire
Okay, now that I actually finished the album.... Thoughts: 1. Amy Lee ruined this album. Song is easily the worst on the album and feels out of place with the rest of the album being heavier. 2. 1x1 is my 2nd least favorite song, the feature is okay at best and every song up to then had been partly heavy so it was a bit of a letdown considering this feels like BMTH's return to heavy music. 3. The rest of the album is absolutely INCREDIBLE and even with two songs that could be better it still might be very high up on my AOTY list because the other songs are that incredible. Best songs: 1. Kingslayer 2. Dear Diary T3. Teardrops/Obey
Even so, the collab with Amy Lee is pretty good. It's nowhere near bad enough to even think it ruins anything, much less the album/EP. I understand its your opinion, but your opinion is ridiculous.
One song will never ruin a whole album for me. I just don't save it, or I'll skip it. One Day the Only Butterflies... is the best song on the album imo. Oli sounds great on the track, and i actually think their two voices work pretty well together. Following that, I still kinda enjoy Ludens and Parasite Eve, though they've worn off for me a bit. Even though 1x1 should be something more up my alley, found it to be kinda boring. Rest of the album is just... ugh. Definitely their worst project since Sempiternal
Great album. Haven't really kept up with this band since That's the Spirit but I'm pleasantly surprised to hear so many elements that were in the albums I got into BMTH with.
It's just an expression, it doesn't actually completely ruin the album. It's currently #9 on my AOTY list. (would probably be between 2-5 if not for Amy Lee song). The Amy Lee song is just way out of place on this album. With an album full of songs that would fit on Sempiternal and their best work by far since Sempiternal, it sucks to have the album end on a song that feels like an Amo reject when Amo was already a terrible album. It's almost like BMTH were like "let's make an album that sounds like our old self where all the songs sound like they fit together on the same album and then throw one random song at the end that ruins the flow of the album." Yeah, that's a good idea. Regardless if the song sounds good (that's opinion based of course), I feel like it's hard to deny that the song does feels out of place on this album. Regardless of my opinion on Butterflies, this album slaps hard. The rest of the songs are some of the best songs they have ever made and I am actually excited for the future of this band once again.
I actually really like 1x1 now, whole album is absolute flames until Butterflies. I also think my order of favorites have changed. Best songs: 1. Kingslayer T2. Teardrops/Obey 4. Dear Diary 5. Parasite Eve
