Hamburg, Germany! You're up! The last time the band came to town was back when they were on their controversial 2014 European Tour. That tour was controversial because it was limited to just six countries, Austria, Germany, England, France, Netherlands and Switzerland, with Germany getting 9 shows in total. After that there were only two acoustic performances in the city, on April 3rd, 2017, when promoting One More Light. One performance took place at the Warner Music Group Germany offices after the full band had given a Q&A, Mike & Chester performed a five song set, with Kiiara also joining them for Heavy. Later in the day 5 out of the 6 band members also held a Q&A at the Mercedes Me store, with Mike & Chester again performing a short four song acoustic set. Thankfully though, Mike Shinoda made a stop in Hamburg back in 2019 with his Post Traumatic tour. Like with all shows for that tour it was a tour de-force of songs from Fort Minor, Linkin Park and the Post Traumatic album, he also brought German singer Yvonne Catterfeld to sing on the piano version BURN IT DOWN. He ended the show by bringing up members of the opening band Don Brocco for helping out with the song A Place For My Head. Speaking of A Place For My Head... the band brought it back! We didn't have to sign petitions or anything, the band knows at this point, if they don't play that song, the fans will bug them for every show of tour to bring it back. As for the rest of the set, there were no major changes. BURN IT DOWN lyrics were sung in the intros, instead of the CASTLE OF GLASS lyrics that we heard in the two Los Angeles shows. While Mike was thanking the crowd in his speech before Bleed It Out, noticing a drawing a fan had done of Chester, someone in the crowd threw a mustard packet on stage to Phoenix. So while Mike was giving his speech, Phoenix handed Mike the mustard packet and Mike, being the founder of #TeamKetchup, did not take this lightly, throwing the mustard back into the crowd before starting the song. I also just wanna highlight this scream that Emily did on the outro of Faint. Because it's awesome, and that's all the justification that I need. With the advancement of technology, making it easier to livestream than ever before, fans at home were able to watch the New York show on YouTube, tiktok and Facebook, getting to experience the show along with the fans attending the show. While we're not gonna ask our readers to livestream the show, if anyone reading this finds a stream or you're streaming it, let us know so we can watch along with you. After this show the band quickly makes it way over to the UK, where they'll be playing a show two days later on September 24th. Are you attending any shows on this tour? Still cant really believe that i am doing this. This is gonna be huge! I am so fucking nervous right now
Postponed a preplanned flight last minute. Working remotely from Hamburg on Monday, flying on Tuesday. Now on a 8h+ train journey. Today, first LP gig. If you'd told me this still recently, I would not have believed it.
I'll wear an Enter Shikari shirt with a goddamn giant octopus on it - that if I don't get a last min LP shirt. In the possible chance someone spots me and feels like saying hi, hit me up!
What time does the show start in PST timezone? Edit: Found out it's 11:30am thanks to @Michele in the shoutbox. Looks like I'll be watching Linkin Park and NFL at the same time
So legend has it that just before HITC debuted I yelled Heavy Is The Crown like a maniac A german to my left was impressed. What a show! Just make sure you do anything to get a ticket it feels so good to have this back!
I have to understand and process what just happened here. More details coming later. It was me a honor, @Qwerty19 .
My brains are on overdrive. Band is on fire, Emily is a beast, and the energy level was crazy. A moshpit during Castle of Glass is one of the most funny absurd thing I've seen in a live show. And just think of what happened during OSC. Glad to have shared the experience with @Michele !!
It was such a good show! As soon as Mike was talking about Germany’s reaction to new songs, i told my sister we would be hearing new music that day.. and we did!! Heavy is the Crown sounded awesome. I can’t wait for it’s release
The show is up on youtube in quite good quality. I love that, from that angle, you can tell how wild the crowd was. For a quick check : OSC - ITE - Faint, but really, the whole thing is great.
SPOILER ALERT: If you visit the show in London or the other shows, this text will be a lot about the setlist! So, just sleept after my 6 hours way home So i came to Hamburg at 1:15 pm, which means that i had a lot of time until the doors would open. So i decided to visit the merch shop which was already open. And the crowd in front of it was already huge So i got the T-SHirt with the album design, which is imo propably one the best design in recent years, even if it costed me 45€. After that i decided with a friend to look out for some drinks and something to eat on the Reeperbahn. At 5pm we went the Arena where we met the other friends of ours, we were kinda a big group (around 10 people) and thankls to the #LPAssociation, i was also able to meet up with @Qwerty19. It was really nice to meet you and talk to you. So around 7:30 pm grandson started and while i just knew him from the feature on Running From My Shadow, he really had a lot of energetic tracks and did a great show. It was a great way to start the evening. After 40 minutes he finished his show and did it really good. You just realized how important it was for him to be there. Then a 30 minutes long pause until LP came on. And holy shit what an atmosphere. SIB as an opener worked fine but i kinda would change it to FTI tbh. But followed by Crawling and LFY, the show started with a lot of energy and continued it with POA. And then they played New Divide, a song i kinda forgot about the last few months but i always loved. Great that they added the 2012 intro, which felt really good. I think the bridge and the last chorus are so amazing, i always loved that part of the song. And now the first real "Emily song": TEM. I already love the song on the studio version but what it does live is a whole another dimension of energy and you feel that THIS IS EMILY. The moment the second chorus hits with her powerful voice, you are just full blown away. This is definitely a moment where i thought that this band is so fucking back! After that they gave us a little room to breath until they started The Catalyst with a fantastic intro and while i really love the song i wont understand the fact they just cut the whole bridge, which is kinda the best part and the highlight of the song for me. The Lift Me Up/Let Me Go part was definitely carried by the crowd. That was a fantastic atmosphere. They continued with Burn It Down, which is fine to me, but i would have prefered something like In My Remains or even I'll Be Gone (or if you kinda dont want to ignore THP, give me UIG for a similar vibe). Then Waiting For The End came up which is always a highlight for me (just wished Mike included his UIB intro ). Emily did a really good on this one too, also on the more quite parts. The bridge and the final chorus definitely had a lot of energy which was lovely. The next part started with Castle Of Glass which was nice to see finally in full length instead of turning into an EDM party You realize that also Mike has improved a lot over the years, he sounded fantastic. It ncontinued with a solo by JOe and the WTCFM/RTN Mash-Up by Mike which was nice i guess, but it took a bit of the energy out of the show for me. Same as a later part of the show. But than the heavy part was introduced with LITE, which fits her extremly well. And oh boy, what she then did on Given Up was heavy af. She performed it like the pro she is. The bridge was HUGE. One Step Closer was massive too! The crowd went insane on that one. Lost and Breaking The Habit were also some nice showing of Emilys abilities. What I've Done followed then which was again a great crowd moment. Now the mellow part of the set started, which i didnt liked as much as the rest of the show. I understand why they choose LOATR for the ballade to play but i would have preferred SOTD or Iridescent here. Well this or the medley which i loved a lot on the other tours. But still it was great song for Mike to show how much he has involved his singing and Emily also sounded really nice here. While its also nice to have a deepcut like My December played, i think it just took toi much of the energy out of the show for my taste (but still, Emily sounded AMAZING!). Friendly Fire is just Friendly Fire i guess and other fans around me reallly loved it obviously but i dont know if i needed a B-Side of OML being played instead of One More Light. I would've choosen different songs for that part of the show. But after this there wasnt a moment anymore there the whole crowed wouldnt be pumped. Numb with the Encore intro was the first song to get the crowd pumped again and with In The End and Faint there wasnt any way to stop the energy anymore. The whole crowd just exploded in the last 25 minutes, especially In The End was loud af. Faint was just wild and fucking crazy and Emily rocked that shit so hard. Her and Mike harmonized so good on Papercut too. AND NOW THE THING I EXPERCDTED THE LEAST: A FUCKING WORLD DEBUT OF HEAVY IS THE CROWN. I jokingly told my group before the concert that they would "definitely" give us something new this evening but to REALLY get something like THAT was totally unexpected and huge. The song is so good and as TEM you really feel its EMILY DNA whole over it. Thats gonna be a crowd favorite on the next big tours i would bet. So missing KTTK was not really a problem here Bleed It Out as a closer with the APFMH MIke bridge is such a perfect way to end the show and the perfect evening it was. The only thing i hated was the fact that i had to get the train as fast as possible to go to the central station because my train would leave it at 11:50 pm and i didnt had a lot of time to catch it (next one would have been a train around 4:30 am, urghhhh). It took me then 6 hours until i was home again. And i would do tzhis over and over again for sure because this concert was such a huge thing for me and will definitely life in my head forever now. Best show this year. I can just say to everyone who has the chance to see the band right now. IT IS DEFENITLY WORTH EVERY FUCKING CENT! Additional, the 360° stage is definitely the best change they could've done because now there is no way you arent near the band. Also the light show was something else, the production was so huge and incredible. The pic i justed posted propably wont give the real feeling. And last but not least: Thank you @Christøffer for providing the LPU code. Thank You so much!
