My sentiments exactly. This song sounded a bit Sum 41ish to me.

I motion to close this thread and go back in time to prevent them from ever releasing that clip. I honestly believe not one person can make an informed decision about the new sound until they hear the enitre song, and for that matter, the entire CD. I would bet that if someone had released a 30-second clip of One Step Closer, half the people would be like "Oh god another Korn/Limp Bizkit ripoff", and the other half would be "SQUEEE!!! THS IS TH GRTST SHT VR YO DIGGITY WOOT WOOT!!!" Is there any real observation in there? Oh well.

Some people are more excited than others. It's understandable. :)

It doesn't sound like Chester. Hmm. Definitely a different sounding album based off of this clip, but it's too early to judge. I hate to sound critical already, but it sounds a little flat. :paperbag:

Edit: I agree with raiyu. I know LP is a mainstream band, but I always felt their music was set aside from all the other "rock" bands out there. I hope that the new album, by trying to sound different than Hybrid Theory or Meteora Linkin Park, is not becoming a cliche. Thanks for the clip anyhow LPA.

    There must be!

As far as i'm concerned that guitar after the chorus is a guitar solo. It must be the second chorus.

Everyone that says it sucks are the people that still listen to metal snd nothing but it. Broaden your horizon and you'll find new things. I like it the song. What I've Done sounds like an AFI/Pink Floyd/u2 mix. I HEAR NO KOAS PAD! SO THAT MEANS I HEAR NO MUSE. ANYBODY WHO SAID THAT WAS A NOOOBASAUR.

well mike isn't featured in alot of different chorus's so he probably does rapping in the verses

Not true, don't make blanket statements like that.

There are people here who listen to all kinds of music, and they may not have liked this clip. I listen to just about everything (save for country). Now, I didn't say it sucked (and I still reserve my judgment till April 2nd), but I listen to Linkin Park because it's DIFFERENT. And this clip sounded a lot like everything out there. And that's not a bad thing. It wasn't a bad song, but I was expecting a lot more from them. (And who knows, we still may get it, this is only 30 seconds from a much longer song)

I mean, this piece itself was 'different' in a sense that LP hadn't done songs like this before, but I really hope they haven't lost that 'X factor' that set them apart from the rest and made them my favorite band.

I've been trying to figure out if their is rap or not too. I've concluded there will be either none or a marginal amount like in Numb or Crawling. This is based mostly on the fact that the first lines "In this farewell, there is no blood, there is no alibi" would not work well rapped. Its possible, but not probable.

Anyway. I very much like the clip and am continualy listening to it repeat; can't wait for the whole song. To early to make a judgement.

I REALLY like this clip, I know its only 30 seconds but you can hear the changes that have been made to the bands sound. The fact that there's a killer guitar riff/solo from Brad shows how much the band has grown.
