What Has Verizon Done? Clip of Single Surfaces

It's much the same way people can classify other bands as emo when it doesn't make any sense to cast them as emo in the first place.

It's all opinion, whether it's right or wrong. But if you look up the "old" definitions of emo, today's music is NOT emo.

 

Obviously some emotion was put into it. It's "emo".

Why defend or argue over something like that label anyway? Everyone knows it's the most pointless label ever.

Will is right to say that the clip sounds like what "emo" is today. I think it's funny how "emo" classic rock would be labeled if it were just being released. All the songs about broken relationships and things. Everything is "emo". People are "emo". Everyone is "emo". If you say you're not "emo" you're just a badass lying to yourself. Or you have a severe case of autism.

I say don't worry about it unless the lyrics are just genuinely cheesy. Then it's not "emo", it's just disappointingly cliché and nauseating.

 

Genres are stupid.

I dont care if its Track.2 or not..It sounds like a great song, I get the feeling though it's going to be like In The End, In the sense that its going to be overplayed and people are going to get sick of it

But i suppose thats like any new band that hasn't released anything in a while..look at MCR...If anyone says emo again everyones cat will die

 

actually that's what i was thinking about this clip, you're completely right this sounds like an angry Coldplay and said it the first time i heard the clip...

and by the way what the hell is Coldplay genre????

But honestly, another comment on the clip, is that it doesn't seem to be expanding much. I'm judging by this chorus, and I don't want anyone to yell at me saying all I've heard is a 30 second clip so I'm a moron to judge it so quickly. But seriously, folks, this doesn't sound like much change. It sounds just like a new slow Linkin Park track, and nothing more. Maybe Chester's voice has improved. That's all.

But I guess Mike did say it would still have the Linkin Park feel to it. I don't know, maybe I was just expecting something more unexpected.


In the end, though, I didn't really care if they did a drastic change with their new sound. If it ends up sounding somewhat like old stuff I won't care at all. I wasn't one of those who was practically begging Linkin Park to change their sound, so I won't mind if this album has a lot of similarities to old LP.

im really hoping that the drums get expanded on this album but they certainly didnt on that 30 second clip that the most boring and plain drum beat evvverrr

Well. No one can say that it is totally mindblowingly different but it sure is a good song...judging from the 2 clips avalible.
I like that it sounds like Brad has some more advanced guitar work than the usual power chord-stuff. Nothing amazing but that would not fit with the music anyway. I think it's a good mix.

 

TBH in the argument of emo music, and what it is, to people who dont listen to it, anything with a guitar is emo

 

What a great song, can't wait to hear it all.

 

I don't label songs by genre, I label them by bands, and I think this song sounds like if AFI did some sort of ballad.
