has the official tracklist been revealed yet? on LP's myspace, they have a new blog where they give details on the video premiere, the single, the cover, the tour, and the 3 pre-order packages, but they don't give away the tracklist or if the "Super Fan Edition Package" (the best pre-order) has any bonus tracks
The cover has the same theme as the music supposedly has: simplistic and raw. On a slightly humorous note, I chuckle at the fact that Joe Hahn is in the middle, despite being the shortest member...and Brad's afro immediately draws you to that side of the image. Also...all of them seem to be part of the "popped collars" club!
The only thing I like about that cover is Brad. It's terrible otherwise. If they didn't want to take away from the music by having ridiculous art, they didn't need to have the most boy band-ish album cover since Backstreet Boys' Millennium.
What they are creating is a style and creative arrangement in simplicity to establish; relative to their music. Open up the cd..... bam! artwork everywhere lol
That's completely fine by me. I think they're overdoing it, but it's not my place to say how they should be going about this. But to have an album cover that looks like it came from the Backstreet Boys' back catalog is just completely unnecessary. I think they should've just had the beach setting with the album title. The guys didn't need to be on the cover. Inside, sure. On the cover? No way.
I get your point, but maybe they are creating a satire of the whole boy band thing , or possibly just making something to talk at the water cooler about.
I was about to disagree with Will on the basis that I didn't think it looked that boy band-ish, but then I realised how similar it is to the cover art of Take That's comeback album: Maybe the second single will sound exactly like any given Queen song.
The only reason I said it looked boy band-ish is because most boy bands' album covers feature their faces on the cover for no reason at all instead of meaningful artwork. That's my main point. To say it resembled the Backstreet Boys was just me putting an example to my word.
I wasn't disagreeing. I was just pointing out that it does look pretty similar to the cover of the last Take That Album, to the point that they even seem to be on a beach.
I'm not a fan of bands being part of the artwork myself, but this isn't really a comparison to Backstreet Boys. The only similarities I can give it, is that they both probably feature the band on the cover. Also it's not like LP are blatantly showing themselves on the cover, they're practically silhouettes. We know they have art work based on the special edition Minutes to Midnight they're releasing, so I'm pretty sure there's more to it than the band wanting to look cool or whatever. To call it "Ridiculous" is a little extreme in my opinion. Boy bands will sit down and choose the album cover where they look the sexiest, I'm sure LP have more to say than what they look like. Just because it's a photographic medium doesn't diminish the messages they want to say through their art work.
I know you weren't disagreeing. I was just supplementing my opinion with an explanation, which I'm pretty sure I didn't do to begin with.
