This album sounds like it's going to be really odd.

You know as much as it pains me to say it, one blabbermouth kid came up with a good point; Chester basicly ripped into alot of bands that have supported them on tour in the past.

Exactly. I'm sure a couple of his buddies read that article and went "WTF".

Chester also said there are a lot of bands lumped into that genre that he doesn't think belong there, i.e. the bands LP has toured with.

He didn't really say they were talentless or anything. He just said he didn't really like them very much, and that some of them didn't even belong in that category, including Linkin Park. Am I correct, or did I miss something?

I think the bands that LP have toured with in the take up probably 80-90% of the entire Nu-Metal genre.

Limp Bizkit and Korn take up 90% of the nu-metal genre?

You know what I mean Will.

They've toured with alot more bands who have been considered to be Nu-Metal than that anyway i.e. Papa Roach, Deftones, Adema etc.

That's the thing, though. Nu-metal is a way problematic genre. Defining bands as nu-metal is almost futile, because there are always going to be those people who claim the band you said is nu-metal aren't nu-metal at all.

More than half the bands defined as nu-metal aren't nu-metal to begin with. To me, nu-metal is a musical style fusing hip hop and metal, and Adema sure as hell isn't hip hop in the slightest, nor is Deftones.

I'll agree. The genre is certainly defined by interperitation at times.

OK, but LP were never really happy with that "nu-metal" label...you know, they've always rather desrcibed their music as something like "alternative metal-hip-hop-electronica" .

Maybe they are really just so excited about this new album, that they are a little more confident than usually. They've been 14 months in the studio, I can imagine how nervous Chester was that he couldn't be on the stage...he's the frontman, he needs the crowd, it's natural and good for them. I just hope he won't take drugs again

Id love to ask LP why they care so much about being called 'Nu-Metal'?

    YES!

I hate when people classify Adem, Deftones, Static-X, etc. as nu-metal.

The band approached this CD with an open mind and tried something creative

cant anyone approach this CD with an open mind instead of such negativity?
