Hits Daily Double reports that Minutes To Midnight will debut at #1 and sell between 550,000 to 600,000 copies in its first week of release, making it the highest opening week for any album in 2007 thus far.

We will know the final totals within a week when official tallies are set to come out.

Awesome, a #1 debut would be great.
Nice to see people accepting the change in the bands sound.

Very exciting, I hope their guess isn't misleading or anything though so I won't get too excited just yet. It's sold over 200,000 in the first day? I don't want to get excited now and find out it only sold like 350k next week, but I'm keeping my hopes up. Hope it gets the full 600k.

The whole defect issue with the CD/DVD combo in Canada is sure to hurt MTM's debut. Stewpeed Warner.

    That's awesome.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the record for most sold albums in the first week ever?

I think it was either Nsync or Eminem. It was a little over 1 million. Meteora had 810 k it's first week, collision course had 360, and Reanimation had 270 k.

Edit: Nope it was Usher with 1.1 million in the first week...ha

Billboard totals only take count of US sales.

But if you're talking about the Canadian charts: yes indeed.

Those numbers are just unheard of at this day in age in the music buisness. Good job LP! I hope they sell at least 2-3 million albums. I know its not a big deal, but at the end of the day you want to see the guys find sucess commercially as well.

    Anyone else done that?

I bought 57 cds in bulk the other day, and all I had to do was order them. Ha! I have given the band much money!

I'm curious on how many records they sold in Europe. But after Rock am Ring the sales will surely rise up again, cause last time they played there, everybody just loved them

This number is US only, right? cause, LP are really huge in Asia I think, so I won't be surprised if they'll sell 1.5 mil copies worldwide in one week.

btw. I've seen both cd and cd/dvd and huge posters in musicstores here, in slovakia, already on 14.5. so the promo works very well worldwide

Well... nowadays this is a great number...

I´m Brazilian, i don´t see people really excited in here, but i think they will sell around 250.000 records maximum (in Brazil).
