According to Rolling Stone, Linkin Park are set to headline the Tokyo installment of the Live Earth concert series.

Live Earth is a seven-continent affair designed to promote awareness of the threat of global warming to our planet. They are similar in fashion to the Live 8 concerts, of which Linkin Park also participated, which promoted awareness of poverty.

Nine concerts are planned in various cities worldwide, including the United States (New York), United Kingdom (London), South Africa (Johannesburg), Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), China (Shanghai), Japan (Tokyo), Australia (Sydney), Germany (Hamburg), and Turkey (Istanbul).

Currently only the line-ups for the US, UK, and Australia shows have been named. Bands like The Police, AFI, Dave Matthews Band, Smashing Pumpkins, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, and more are set to converge in New York. London will play host to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Madonna, Duran Duran, Black Eyed Peas, and Foo Fighters, among others. Lastly, Australia will see the likes of Wolfmother, Jack Johnson, Ghostwriter, Eskimo Joe, and many others.

All concerts will take place during a 24-hour period on July 7th, 2007 (7/7/07). It is highly likely that a concert of this magnitude will be broadcast online as it happens, so we'll keep you updated.

Oh cool, isn't Live Earth hosted by former Vice President of the United States, Al Gore? I was wondering why Linkin Park wasn't on the list.

    Grow up.

I'm no hippie but I'm smart enough to know that global warming is real and that we are slowly destroying the world we live in. The effects wont show in your lifetime most likely, but they sure will for future generations.

Why do you think there were so many freak snowstorms this year in the US, and then record hot temperatures in Winter at the same time? You guessed it: global warming. I support Linkin Park for all the charities they do and think they are an amazing band for using their money and fame to make a difference.

I bet you that this is going to turn into another debate about Global Warming. Can someone just make a topic in Serious Chat about it so that we don't turn this thread into something nasty?

As for this goes, I think this is cool. It's good that Linkin Park is taking part in something like this. I respect them for that. And I'm kind of chuckling at Matt's comment. He's right, but how else are you going to transfer them quickly enough?

Oh, and Arbaks, that's kind of mean. Perhaps you shouldn't say things like that, even if someone else makes a seemingly ridiculous statement.

This is to raise awareness, right? As if no one knows.

and people that know the theory, but thats what the think it is just a theory and dont realize Manhatan will dissapear...

Gah, I hate dragging myself into this, but I have to say it.

It's not that people don't know, it's that people decide not to believe that it is true. People are more than aware of the theory, they're just not buying it.

And can we please turn this into a discussion about Linkin Park's participation, not about global warming?

Well there's not much more to say about their participation.
    So let's all go here

Louis, leave the moderating to the moderators. ;)

I have to say the London concert looks far more impressive than the New York one.

Well, it's not that I'm trying to moderate. Sorry if it's coming off like that, though. This just seems to happen a lot. These topics get out of hand way too often.

But once again, sorry if I'm coming off like I'm trying to moderate or anything. I'll be more careful in the future. :)

This is great. Live 8 are some of the highest quality videos of them playing live so this should be similar. Plus it's for a good cause.
