Rolling Stone has named Minutes To Midnight and Bleed It Out to the magazine's year-end awards lists. MTM placed at #25 on the Top 50 Albums of 2007 list, while BIO hit the 44th spot on their accompanying 100 Best Songs of 2007 list. To justify these choices, the magazine wrote:

    On Minutes To Midnight:
"Now in their early thirties, Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda are still angry young men, only now they're as riled up about world affairs as personal turmoil — "The Little Things Give You Away" and "Hands Held High" are as vociferous as any anti-Bush screed 2007 produced. They've broadened their sound a little, too, adding cooler keyboard textures, but with co-producer Rick Rubin in tow, their metallic crunch is as brutal and efficient as ever, and the tunes still feel as cathartic as a good punch to your bedroom wall."

    On Bleed It Out:
"Their simplest song ever, and their greatest — Brad Delson jumps out of the speakers with one monster riff; LP's vocal tag team of Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda sound more pissed off than ever."

Check out the entire Top 50 Albums and Top 100 Songs lists.

Also, "Minutes to Midnight" was named the 25th best album of the year in the same issue.

Wow, and Bleed it Out is, in my opinion, their worst song of all time :p

oO; Wow. I guess. Eh, Bleed It Out is quite simple, and it does sound great, but it isn't their greatest in my opinion.

What "monster" riff? Half the songs on the album have bigger riffs than Bleed it Out, not that it's a terrible song. Chester and Mike don't seem as pissed off as much as they seem to be having fun with the song, but oh well. Opinions are opinions.

Everyone likes it sure, but like, Shadow Of The Day has gotta be a more respectable song, I would've thought.

Congrats to Linkin Park for this..but how did Bleed it Out make it and not What I've Done? lol..What I've Done spent what, like 16 weeks at number 1? Dont get me wrong, i love Bleed it Out..its one of my favorites even though its like 2 minutes long, but i think What I've Done should have made it..it was more successful since it was a big comeback single.

Some people on this board just don't appreciate good reviews lol. I think its great what that reviewer said about MTM & BIO - even though not all of its accurate, but still funny as hell!

Just be thankfull that at least they got in the awards.

    Well done LP!

I'd say their comments on both BIO and MTM are accurate, imo (except for BIO being LP's "best song"). That's kind of strange, since I never seem to agree with any music publications... much less Rolling Stone.
