I have to say I was never a big fan of Coldplay but this album is fucking blowing me away. There is so much that's just so unexpected but everything fits so amazingly well. The songwriting is unbelievable.
Judging by some of the comments on torrents relating to this album, some Coldplay fans are just as bad as LP fans can be when it comes to a band changing their sound.
Derek. You should review this album so I'd know if it's worth it to go to the library and st.. download it.
Here's my review: Don't go into this album expecting the old Coldplay because they have drastically changed their sound. For the record it's worth the download because the album is great. 8/10
The album is great if you love music for the sake of music. By that I mean it might take somewhat of an insight into songwriting and creativity to really appreciate this album. It's mindblowing that Coldplay went from what they were to this grandiose multi-instrument off-the-wall epic band. The songs are catchy, well-written, and very original. I think I'd have to give the album a 9/10.
Hey, I don't really care if bands change their sound as long as they still make good music. I wasn't that into coldplay but after I heard Violent hill and Viva la Vida, well... I wanted to know. Off the album, from what I've heard I really like. Violent Hill, Viva La Via, Lost?, Spell A Rebel Yell. They're all great. I'm going to download it.
Listening to it now, I can say this is freakin' amazing. This is the first Coldplay album I've heard and they are the shit.
The beat to Lost! is so addictive. Makes me wanna get up and clap lol. Way better than the acoustic version.
I enjoyed this album much more than I ever thought I would enjoy a Coldplay album. It took a few listens to sink in, but it's is the most musically impressive thing the band has done yet. I like it.
Love it more and more every time I listen to it. Favourite songs: Viva La Vida, Cemeteries Of London, Chinese Sleep Chant
For those that just want to listen to the stream, you can go here. Coldplay has responded to the leak by making it available as a stream in several different formats, including IHeartMusic and MySpace. http://www.iheartmusic.com/cc-common/news/sections/special/coldplay.html Although there is a watermark in it, a voice saying "Music on Demand" every so often.
I gave in.... ....wowzers I can't choose a favorite, in 5 days it'll be coming out and I'll buy it, take a long bath while listening and decide then. What also makes me ultra happy is that on Coldplay's next album (probably around the end of 2009) there will be a duet with Kylie named 'Luna'. It did not go onto this album because it was too sexy. Now I'm all curious lol.
