Im feeling kind of down lately, and I think that I need an album to help with that. So, in your experience, what albums/songs help you out when your feeling sort of depressed? I was thinking maybe Pinkerton by Weezer. Im not sure though. Im not even sure if I should get a happy album, to make me feel better, or a sadder one, to match my mood right now. If you have any suggestions for a song/album (prefferably album), please post. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Pinkerton would definitely be a good choice.

Not to harp on an old tune, but Elliott Smith is my favorite artist for this reason. Everything he writes has a melancholy tinge to it.

I'd recommend Either/Or and New Moon in particular, since they feature him at his most quiet and introspective.

I listen to alot of the early Bob Dylan stuff. Things like "I'm Not There" or "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" or "Positively 4th Street".

    Chamillionaire - Ultimate Victory

Everytime I'm feeling down (which is a lot), I listen to this song and it makes me feel so much better. It makes you feel like you're the king of the world. Don't let Chamillionaire's name throw you off, this song has nothing to do with hoes, money, or killing. 95% of his songs don't include any of those.

Ohnooo. Everytime I hear Elliott Smith I want to kill myself, and I'm not even down.
But then again, when I am a little sad I like to listen to him, but it doesn't make me feel happier, it only matches the mood.

This never fails to make me feel happy [click] :)

That's a really good one as matching the mood goes.

White Pony by Deftones as well. Towards the end of 2006 I went through this break up and for a weekend afterwards all I did was listen to that album, haha.

    Radiohead - OK Computer

That album always makes me feel good for some reason. I'd also have to agree with White Pony and Pinkerton.

All of those albums are fantastic choices if you're feeling a bit down.

I've found a lot of pop punk lifts my mood when I'm feeling down.

Check out Mayday Parade, All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, Forever the Sickest Kids, Cute Is What We Aim For and even Paramore.

Acoustic Slipknot on The Subliminal verses (Vermillion II, Prelude, Circle, Danger: Keep Away) is pretty depressing too.

The album "Fallen" by Evanescence has made me a much happier person.
So has "The Open Door" also by Evanescence.

The song "Great DJ" by The Ting Tings is kinda quirky but upbeat and cool

    Circa Survive's On Letting Go

Listen to it the whole way through And it will put you in a state of relaxation. Just an amazing album to relax to and forget things.

Juturna is good also if you want A more Harder edged feel. but I think OLG flows nicer.
