I just don't get what the hype is. I like Enter Sandman and a couple other songs, but I just can't get past the whole thrash thing. The only real thrash band I like (and I don't really even like them that much) is Anthrax. I really, really don't like those bands. It's annoying, and it makes me wonder if they're even playing music because they want to, or because it can get them laid.
Well, I'm going to put it right here that me saying that I don't partically "get" does not mean that I do not "like" a band/artist. Anyway, first off The Devil Wears Prada. I love this band but seriously. Whaa? Nickelback . Not fond of this band at all. They've a few good songs though.
No I totally agree. I HATE several bands but I'm not going to rant about them here lol. There are bands that everyone else seems to like and I want to so I can understand peoples excitement but I can't get them. Nickelback is one of those bands I'm not going to rant about though.... :] ew.
Definitely adding Kings Of Leon to my list, I don't get the hype. And all the crap like Nickelback/Hinder/Saving Abel/Buckcherry sounds the same to me.
Only artist listed in this thread I agree with, pretty much. And Aiden, yuck! Music I don't understand the popularity of: Techno/Jumpstyle/Tektonik/whatever ... monotonous beats, meaningless lyrics (if any, at all), music for dumb people as far as I'm concerned. Top 40 Rap/Rock/... basically everything produced by Timbaland these days. But I guess, I get these since they're basically just to dance to.
I do not understand Sigur Ros at all, they get so much praise, but I can't get why people like them so much. Same with The Mars Volta, it all just kinda sounds like noise to me. Aside from that, I don't get the White Stripes (all their stuff is the same to me), and maybe a couple others that i'll think of later.
Okay I forgot, Mike Shinoda's stuff in LP is the only Rapping I've ever been able to stand. Mainly because it DID have meaning and was very poetic. Plus I grew up with it, I try to get into "good" stuff today and I just can't haha. When I list these bands, I can't stand or get into the music, that doesn't mean I don't respect them as a person. I hate when people don't like the music and say the artist is stupid.
I don't get I set my friends on fire. They have great songs...and I guess they have some pretty cool lyrics, here and there...but...seriously..."get" them? Not so much.
Lady GaGa is my current one. Yeah, sure, her songs are catchy, but so are Madonna's. Why go for an imitation when you can have the real thing? Not really a band, but I don't really see the appeal of Slash from GnR/Velvet Revolver. He's good, yeah, but there are better guitarists out there making music. That's all I can think of right now, but to reply to someone earlier: Bands like Sunn O))) and Boris have a niche audience. Not everyone is going to like their stuff. Sunn moreso, but Boris actually switch it up on each album pretty consistently. Sunn & Merzbow are like two peas in a pod, there's a time and place for both, and it's not often. Although, Sunn's new album is ace.
I do like Boris, not so much Absolutego though. I remember once late at night i listened to it in my room in the dark. It was torture man . Sunn O))) I don't understand at all. Merzbow is kind of innovative though, and one of more important 'noiseicians' or whatever you call them. Sunn O))) are just evil . Oh, and i'm surprised how many people here don't like NIN. They used to be like the second most listened to band on this forum. Nowadays it's probably Greenday, Blink or Coldplay.
I didn't notice that before, but you're right. There used to be so much NIN talk around here. I never liked them (barring a couple tracks. Namely Closer and Discipline. Guess I like the pop-ier stuff ), but I can see why people do.

, have you read through some of Mars Volta's lyrics? They're twice as strange. Cedric's lyrics are mostly streams of consciousness i believe.

Oh, yeah. How could I forget Mindless Self Indulgence. Most of their music really does sound mindless... Deathcore, too. Apart from Bring Me The Horizon (and I only really like their second album) I completly hate the genre, Suicide Silence in particular.
