Just cause you don't like a certain genre, doesn't automatically mean it = fail.

Dave definitely seems better than what he's done so far with LP, although obviously he doesn't necessarily have to apply it in a ska-punk context with them.

    That's what I always thought.
And Brad was originally a bassist if I'm not wrong...?

What do you mean by 'I don't even know how he would produce it'?

I wasn't really being all that serious, but the end result would probably be amazing if it were the case.

    Yes it does! :p

And anyways, I wasn't saying I didn't like ska. Notice I said Ska LP is fail, meaning in my opinion, I don't think LP would make a very good ska band.

Vinyl is still a very popular medium amongst DJs and audiophiles. Vinyl uses a wider range of frequencies than CDs do and therefore gets better audio quality. Every instrument comes out a lot clearer. Vocals also sound great.

Classical music especially sounds fantastic on vinyl.

He's right. People are bringing vinyl back because an analog system can bring out a much better sound than a digital one, i.e. vinyl or tape sounds better than mp3 or cd.

I wasn't going to say that, but that's kind of what i was getting at.

And though i haven't listened to vinyl much, it does sound muuuuch better.

One day i'll buy a record player and buy all my downloads on vinyl :p.

I've heard that the "vinyl has better sound quality than a CD" thing is a myth. Not sure, though.

Anyway, I may have said this before, but I think that LP just needs a better producer. They also need to break some song-writing cliches that they currently hold on to, yes, but a major problem is production. HP and Meteora were to stifled, same with MTM although to a lesser extent. I think they need to bring in Flood. He can make something sound friggin intense. Listen to Jellybelly by Smashing Pumpkins. Turn up the volume. Insane. Or someone like Josh Homme (listen to Misfit Love. Awesome). Just someone who can make something sound dirty and rocking, because to be honest the rocking LP songs are horrible sound-wise. They just don't ROCK enough. Not because of the song-writing, but the production.

Also, yeah, the rhythm section in general needs to step up their game, go for some nice fills and some cool bass riffs. And Joe needs to be better utilized. And I think Chester needs to be used less. A more even split between him and Mike.

I agree witha few of those points, certainly the part about more complex basslines and drum fills, but I'm pretty sure Linkin Park would not sound good produced by Josh Homme.

I think cd's have a larger range. But vinyls sound way better.

I don't know, it depends on the direction they go in. He can produce a rock song, though. He's great with guitar tones.

In any case, I still hold that my first choice would be Flood.

it's just a bad match up. i don't think steven wilson contains the sound that LP is aiming for.
