In a recent Tweet via his official Twitter, Chester shared his perspective on the new Linkin Park record towards a fan.

"I myself. Promise that the new LP is f***ing insane. Complex. Heavy without metal. Strong hiphop. Mix HT and M2M. Melodic"

This should be taken with a grain of salt, but if the album is anything like he describes, this should be a really exciting insight to what we can expect from the new Linkin Park album.

He also finally came to admit to himself and the fans that his side-project album isn't that great.

Yeah, he seemed pretty bummed out about the album sales, but I don't know, he was being too hard on himself.

As for the mix of Hybrid Theory & Minutes to Midnight. That excites me.

Could be DEEP lyrically, OR could be really complex instrumental wise. There are all sorts of ways to be "heavy"

I'd say that sounds like how Linkin Park were on "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora"; heavy without being metal. :)

Underneath Chester's excitement there's a pretty true statement as to how the album will sound, and it's actually like I had imagined. We'll be getting a combination of Hybrid Theory (the sound that made them famous) with the new modern rock sound they had on Minutes To Midnight. My view is...they'll have the hip-hop, electronica and bass and drum elements from Hybrid Theory with the mellow melodic rock sound found on Minutes To Midnight. So basically we'll be getting a mature, more adult Hybrid Theory...which isn't a problem. As long as the music doesn't sound trite/cliche, pushes their creativity to the limits, and doesn't feature any extremely angsty lyrics, I'm fine with that. I just want an album that challenges them, and the listener.

    Helpful statement, I know.

(It could be wrong, could be wrong) But it should've been right (It could be wrong, could be wrong) Let our hearts ignite (It could be wrong, could be wrong) Are we digging a hole? (It could be wrong, could be wrong) This is outta control

Yes. I think LP is capable of writing lyrics better than "what the f--- is wrong with me"; or as Inside of Me had it "what the hell is wrong with me". Mike has showcased in Fort Minor, on serious songs and some demo songs that he can truly write if he wants to. Also Chester had some strokes of genius (Let Down) on Out of Ashes, although the album felt a little too perfect in spots. It's just this whole "we must write songs over 97 times so they sound catchy" mentality is killing them.

sure, mike is able to write deep stuff. but even on TRT he showcased rather stripped down lyrics compared to "normal" rap.
personally i don't believe that they have the possibility to write the lyrics they want. there is no other good explaination for the downfall of their lyrics from young to old. even their old angsty songs (HTEP) are so much better (just talking about the lyrics) than most of what came afterwards.

I agree. They can come up with brilliant lyrics every now and then ( Mike''s Right Now, Chester's Let Down) but other than that they're pretty weak lyrically. Especially Chester.
But that doesn't stop me from loving some of their songs in spite of the bland lyrics, because overall they sound really good (What I've Done, Too Late, The Hard Way)

Well as long as the lyrics aren't 'CUT MY WRISTS N' BLACK MY EYEZ'. I'll be fine. Some of the best songs of all time, had rather mundane lyrics.
