    but yeah, that makes me feel much better about the album. but with everything everyone's been saying recently in this forum, it's just getting me so pumped to see just how well this album's gonna be

    Best MTM songs: BIO, WID, VD, IP(NRL)

    Weaker ones (IMO): LOATR, SOTD, IB,TLTGYA

    You realize that there's only a couple bands on that list that aren't a popular rock band, right? 90% of those bands are famous because they've made a formula that works and they stick to it. It's the same thing Linkin Park used to do. And if you don't think sticking to a basic, obvious formula is wrong (and remember, I'm not just talking about song structure), then let me quote Derek, since you all love him and he has more credibility in your eyes.

    The same goes for using the same guitar tone, lyrics, and overall vibe for every song, not just the song structure.

    And let's not forget that much of the world puts Linkin Park in the same category as Nickelback. This isn't a coincidence. They're both incredibly formulaic. Any huge Nickelback fan would argue that Nickelback isn't formulaic, even though we all know they are. It's the same case with Linkin Park fans.

    And again, I'm not saying it's bad music. I'm just saying it gets very old, very quick to me. Also, I'm talking pre-Minutes to Midnight.

    Couldn't you have just put your words underneath my quote instead of putting them in my quote? When you add words it makes it seem like the above is my writing. While I definitely agree with your opinions, I'd rather have you list your opinion UNDER my quote, rather then editing my words to add your opinion, thus (non-deliberately of course) making it look like I wrote it. Thanks :).

    It's a pretty trendy thing to change someone's post, mostly to point out hypocrisy, further a point or just to "fix'd" them. Get with the times Derek :p.

    I think that's an understatement about Given Up ^_^. It doesn't have a lot going for it. A couple of cool riffs and some impressive vocals in the bridge, ...terrible lyrics, boring structure, instant gratification song. I put it in the same category as OSC & Don't Stay, but OCS>>>DS>>>GU.
    But that's not to say I can't enjoy it.

    IMO, IP was one of the best songs on MTM, with VDay. TLTGYA along with Krwlng, IMO, are the best songs they written to date.
    NRL definitely should have been on the record. Cut GU and WID, add NRL and ATL.

    They didn't go far enough, IMO. Big change was the objective, only about half the album met that.

    Who said "hybrid sound" has to strictly be rap, rock and electronica?
    All the elements you mention are on MTM, just mixed with more elements; pop, reggae, classic rock, etc

    For all of LP's talk in the past of "we don't like being pigeon-holed" they really painted themselves into a corner with the 1st two albums.

    Agreed. Nothing wrong with it in & of itself.
    I do think, however, that there's something wrong with exclusively using the same structure and subject matter for 2 whole albums. It's boring and predictable. HT & Meteora are totally formulaic whether you want to admit it or not.

    Add "lies" and "numb" to that list ^_^.

    MTM gave me the most goose bumps, the music scores are simply genus.. And i'm a trance dj and i listen and play ze good shit, I love all songs on that album except In between, which is still sorta ok-ish on a slow day...

    I agree with you there Dean. The solo feels forced. If you listen to the solo in TLTGYA, the guitar solo blends effortlessly.

    it seems that someone from LPL found the official banner for the austria shows and it says LP new album will be released mid-Sept. I think this is the most solid news we've had for the release date since it is on an official banner. Plus with all the magazines saying a similar time i'm guessing it'll probably be sept. i don't want to bring my hopes up but this is past coincidental by now.

    only thing is no one seems to be able to tell if it's fake or not. it's too good to be fan made. we can't tell if this is some other artist's work. and it does sound very LPish with all that they've described of the new album

    It's probably fake but then again this is too good and original to be fun made. I really want them to sound like this.

    hahaha....i have a feeling they're not only going to sound like this...but even better. If someone else can make this...LP can make it better. And this does match up to the description of their new album pretty well.
