It's common knowledge among people who know how to use their brains that bands that release albums less often have the ability and time to make each album as good as it can possibly be.

If a band can release full-length albums frequently it means they are incredibly formulaic and/or someone else is helping them write large chunks of their albums.

If you read, I never said they weren't commercial. I said Linkin Park is the least commercial band I know of.

Yes, I did read it. You said "least commercial".
Didn't you have to buy "Not Alone", though? (I don't know, I never got it)

^OkamiSensei, is your username a reference to the video game?

If so, I wish this forum had a rep system, because I'd definitely give you some.

Haha, yes, it was originally a reference to the game. It's one of my favorites!
I decided to use it as an alias for most accounts I have after I read up on the meaning. :)

    Warner's fault, not LP's.

Linkin Park's job is solely to make the music and artwork. If they want, they can film themselves in the studio, and they do. Everything to do with the selling of the albums is up to Warner.

Tell that to Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, or John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Some of Trent Reznor's best work was in the span of 2 years. John Frusciante recorded and released 6 solo albums in 6 months, and all of them were ridiculously good.

    Or tell that to Buckethead.

I said bands and you're referring to solo artists.

It's much harder for a group of musicians to write a song that everyone digs than it is for one person to put what's on their mind into a song. Anyone who's both written solo music and stuff in a band setting can relate.

But you're right, I guess I should've been more clear in my post.

EDIT: And I could argue that Trent Reznor sounds formulaic, but that's just me. I have no idea what kind of processes he uses to make music.

Then of course there were The Beatles, who released 12 LPs in 7 years. I guess they're formulaic too.

Do I really need to tell you that The Beatles are an obvious exception to the rule?

This. LP has NO control over costs of items. And people who think this band is commercial should ask themselves to name a band that isn't, as MS put it. I remember reading that during a 2001 show, Mike said something like "We don't care how you do it, go download that shit" after they played And One (I believe I was on lpl?). Anyways, don't be hating on a band for trying to make money. They need money to record more music, again as MS would put. Haha I'm too lazy to find that quote Mike said during an lpu chat a few weeks ago.

But there are other things wrong with the band. Nobody's perfect. You can't think because somebody doesn't like something about LP, that they're not a good fan to them.

    The Roots?

Really, I could go on and on. Time does not necessitate whether or not good music is released.

Unless you want me to start naming off bands that take forever to release music, yet still suck.

People have used this quote out of context way too many times. He was referring to a song that wasn't for sale.

Mike is anti-music piracy. He doesn't want us downloading music that is available for sale. Just the stuff that you can't buy.

OK, fine. You're right (I'm sure you just love hearing that). I still think that many of the bands you mentioned are formulaic though (Of course, that doesn't mean they suck, it just means they stick to what they know they are good at).

    Yes, because

    and

    follow the same formula.

Also, I really only mentioned 2 bands. Unless you really want me to mention more.
