After listening to the lyrics Im getting convinced that this will be sort of a conceptual album ( most likely atomic bomb ), like they´ve said songs will complement each other, so they wanted to focus on these lyrics on this song because surley they will complement other song`s lyrics.
The Catalyst in its full, unedited version is amazing and a perfect choice for a first single. I love everything about this track; from the keyboard in the beginning and the slow build, to the fast paced, nicely flowed middle section with the amazing electronica effects that really made the song stand out. That revving synth in particular is brilliant. Finally, the ending was beautiful and the build up to it is fantastic. With such a fast middle section to the song, it then slows right back down for the final minute and a half with some amazing vocals shared between both Chester and Mike. However, Chester steals it for me with his "Lift me up, let me go" part. I'm also fine with the lack of lyrics, which are still solid overall. Great song. I know a lot won't be fans of this but I'm so glad that Linkin Park are making their music more fresh and new and straying away from the dead nu-metal sound. I can't wait for A Thousand Suns.

I sat and absorbed this for about 45 minutes. It needed repeat listens for sure, it's pretty dense. Certain people deleting it after only one listen is ridiculous. Anyway. The "God bless us..." part is a little repetitive, and lyrically it feels a bit incomplete. I'm definitely getting the vibe that it really needs to heard with the rest of the record to make propper sense (not a mark against it) but other than that it's very good, I really like it. I'm gonna try not to listen to it too much over the next 5-6 weeks, don't want to burn it out before the album drops. Agreed. I had to force myself to like WID, which I couldn't keep goin for long. I really came to dislike that song after a while. I'm with you on the extended live jam. Particularly a drum solo over the outro, or just some band jam in the first half of the song to break up the repetitiveness of the lyrics. This. EDIT: Even just looking at the lyrics there (thanks for that Adam) it's like it's picking up in the middle of something, just re-enforces what I said at the top of this post.
I know whenever a single for a new album comes out, fans always say "this is going to be their best record!" or something like that (or the naysayers will say it will be their worst)... but, honestly, for me, I love the style. This will probably be my favorite Linkin Park album if all the songs are a similar style (any why wouldn't they be?), even if it isn't deemed their best by every fan out there (yes, I'm basing that off of one song -- I don't care, hah).
