I've said it before but Meteora was a bit of a flop, granted, but that doesn't mean their 3rd or 4th album would've been, had they pursued their original 'genre'. They just needed to dig a bit deeper, rather than think 'we'll never be able to make good music this way again'. Just an example: why not try different time signatures, key changes, unusual chord progressions, more cryptic lyrics (which they're starting to do), why not introduce the synths they have been doing recently but in coordination with the old style. I was a member of the official forum back in 2003 when Meteora was released, and a lot of us were screaming out for them to do this - We just didn't like the simplicity of Meteora and how watered down it was.

Yeah, I listened to it again today and I really enjoy it. I don't find any part boring or repetitive, and the track really flows in my opinion. It doesn't drag at all for being 5:42.

I guess it's me and my musical taste require more context than the repetitive "God save us every one" and it's alternative the same with the chorus. [IMG]

One thing that i am glad about this single, is that they chose a song more towards the end of the album, and not go and pick the first half of the album to be singles, and leave the rest out of it. That is really the only thing that disappointed me with Minutes To Midnight, when all of the singles were bunched up together and rest of the album was pretty much left out.

But they are doing songs with more guitars, drums, with rap and probably maintan the synths, mike has already confirmed it.

Of course the band could go back to the style for HT, i think it wouldn make much sense, but they could, except that they have already said mant times that they won't, for those fans who think they should not change at all, and stay in the nu metal genre i don't understand how they just don't see what the band is doing, they are making whatever makes them happy in their music, afterall it's their music.

It's almost like having a friend that has an girlfriend which is a very close friend of yours and, he wants to breakup with her, and you say no and resent him for doing that because you would prefer that he stayed with her and that woul make you happy, although it's making him fell terrible, it makes absolute no sense, your frined should do the best thing for him, despite what everybody else thinks, and so should the band, they know what they want to do, they know what makes them happy, they should do it, no matter what everyone else thinks, it's thei life, it's their carrer, it's their choice.

Theres no denying that its repetitive because the lyrics do, in fact, repeat. duh lol.

But like Joe said a few posts above me, the track flows well. Not once when I listen to it do I think to myself "man this is a long song." Before I know it we are at the "lift me up let me go" part. So the lyrics repeat, fine, but the song as a whole is not monotonous.

edit: Pedro nailed it with the best friend and gf reference. Imagine you were an artist/band/whatever and you made something that you loved and it hit big. But then you said well wait a second.... I can, and want, to do other stuff too...but everyone says NO. YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO OR U DIEZ! Wtf kinda mentality is that?

Let LP be LP.

The song is great. As mentioned above it never feels like you're listening to an almost 6 minute long track. The way the song progresses from the intro keyboard to the uptempo beat is lovely. First we hear Joe's scratching alongside Rob's drums then comes Mike's vocals with the bass line by Phoenix and then the main background synth with electrodrums and finally Brad's guitar takes us to the heart of the song and the last 2 minutes where the tempo changes from fast to slow is the point at which the song reaches its climax. Great songwriting, never thought I would hear this much diversity in an LP song, way to go guys.

I'm gonna hold my ultimate opinion until I hear ATS..

I'm curious to hear how The Catalyst fits in context to the rest of the album. Mike has said it sounds like Catalyst, but doesn't sound like Catalyst. (?) lol

Well I guess we all like bands for different reasons. I like Linkin Park mostly for the rap and screaming, and apparently there's gonna be more of the latter. Not so sure about the former?

To sum up my feelings abou the fans:

What if linkin park wants to change even though their fans want them to stay the same?

They can change if they want to

They can leave their fans (some of them) behind

Cuz their fans don't want the change

And if they don't want the change than their no fans (no longer fans but you guys get the picture) of theirs

P.S: I now see how stupid this could seem, but it's already done.

I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein' poor & even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a n----- he's a hero
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less hungry mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is...
