with the first like 5 minutes or so i was like "meh... dont know" but it kept getting better and better song by song! i think that the vocals are the strongest ones i've seen in an lp album - especially with those great backing vocals! really catchy!

and i really LOVE all the interludes! they aren't the slightest boring to me.

i'm really blown away by this and it's their most interesting album. i'm glad they tried out something new and i can't wait to hear the songs live :)

You guys have made me uber excited for this, I have been working my way through the thread like a mad woman haha! :)

Waiting For the End is on now. But I've already heard that a couple of times while I was waiting for ATS. That said: Robot Boy was OKAY. Nothing special, but certainly not a bad track. And really fits in with the flow of the album, I didn't even know Jornada Del Muerto had started, but I was okay with how long Robot Boy seemingly was. So that says a lot. Waiting For the End is better than I expected. A lot better. But Mike's voice didn't magically become better, really his accent is the biggest issue with the entire song. And the fact that it strays from the awesome sounds of the intro and outro of the track.

Blackout intro is sooo trippy. Hell, the music in general is trippy.

    Spoiler!
Burning in the skies - lyrics

I used the dead woods to make the fire rise.
A flood of innocence in burning the skies.
I filled my cup with the rising in the sea
and pour it out into an ocean of debris.

    Oh

    I’m swimming in the smoke
    of bridges I have burned.
    So don’t apologize,
    I’m losing what I don’t deserve.

We held our breath when the clouds began to fall
but you were lost in the beating of the storm.
And in the end we were made to be apart,
in separate chambers of the human heart.

    Oh

    I’m swimming in the smoke
    of bridges I have burned.
    So don’t apologize,
    I’m losing what I don’t deserve.
It’s in the black and bolds
    of bridges I have burned.
    So don’t apologize,
    I’m losing what I don’t deserve.
    What I don’t deserve.

    Oh

    I’m swimming in the smoke
    of bridges I have burned.
    So don’t apologize,
    I’m losing what I don’t deserve.

    The blame is mine alone
    of bridges I have burnt.
    So don’t apologize,
    I’m losing what I don’t deserve
    What I don’t deserve, ohh
    What I don’t deserve

I used the dead words to make the fire rise.
A flood of innocence in burning the skies

So many sections of Blackout (and a lot of the album actually) could and probably should have been done with guitar. That's a bit disappointing because when Mike starts singing and the initial buildup on Blackout is sweet...but it SHOULD be done with a guitar, it'd sound so much more powerful that way. Hopefully live they'll go that route, replacing some of the synth that could be guitar with it.

Edit: The ending of Blackout wasn't as out of place as some of the other reviews were saying. In fact I was waiting for something more...out there to come up 'til the song ended. And now I am nodding my head to Wretches and Kings.

I'm still resisting. I want to listen to it so badly but I want to listen to my own copy, it just feels right. Lmao. Glad there's tons of good reviews for this album.

Okay, I've heard it like 5 or 6 times already, I think I can give a realistic opinion. Yes, I do believe it's the best Linkin Park album so far. Musically, lyrically - it's perfect. Mike's voice is so beautiful, Chester's definitely one of the best vocalists of all time, the interludes are amazing. That's the perfect album imo. Also, I believe it has the best album intro ever - I can't describe my feeling when listening to "The Requiem". Favorite song - The Messenger. I can't believe that such a soft instrumental can fit such rough vocals so well. It's closely followed by "Iridescent".

    Thank you, Linkin Park!!!

Already covered. I could not NOT buy a LP record, even if it wasn't awesome.

Everyone just download the lyrics plugin for WMP, it's a freeware. The lyrics will automatically show up when you listen to the song there.

I think it's official that after my third listen, I have fell in love with Blackout. Maybe it just came at the right time, but there's just something about it. Epic.
