Video: VMA Live Performance of "The Catalyst"

ughhh i missed the VMAs, so thanks for postin this!! They sound amazing!! =)

 

Wasn't really impressed with the performance, but then again it was their first time performing the song.

It lacked the punch of the original and I think the cutting down of the song had a lot to do with it. It really fucked up the pacing. Chester sounded too whiny on the chorus but Mike and the rest did okay on the verses/gang vocals.

 

I really enjoyed the The Catalyst live, especially when almost all of Linkin Park were singing the song together, I don't know if this is the first time where all the band members sang a song together live (correct me if I'm wrong though) but if it was I think it was pretty awesome

 

Chester finally didnt sound whinny for once, he really sang it out this time around

 

and sportin some sunglasses haha

 

That were almost falling off cause of his awesome singing

 

haha yeahh Chester dont care about them as he sings..he can ROCK even without them!

 

I actually think Chester sounded better with his raspy voice. I thought it made the song more intense or aggressive; whatever you want to call it, i don't know the word for it lol.
But i do give it that it was not that great because they couldn't play the actual whole entire song, which was a big bummer. Overall it was an amazing performance, best at the Vma's.

 

I hope we get some good recordings of tuesdays New yoRk concert

 

i love Robs drumming skills..its awesome that they showed that..he did great as always!

 

For once? I don't think he sounds whiny 90% of the time. Here however, he went really nasal on the chorus and if I'm not mistaken he missed a note as well. But I'll give it a pass since it was the first ever live performance of the song. He'll def get better with more practice.

I agree. Not really raspy though but more raw.

The instrumental breakdown in the middle always gives the song that punch. Damn you VMAs. They let frickin' Justin Bieber have a drum solo at the end of his performance. Seriously WTF.

 

That's because Justin Bieber rakes in more viewers than Linkin Park.

Sad but true story. You appeal to the audience.

Absolutely. He was hamming it up pretty badly. He just came off looking stupid.

 

Yea when i saw joe singing i was like holy shit thats fuckin awesome

I cant wait to see the whole band sing Iridescent. That should be epic!
