I'm trying to "love" this. Honestly, what's so amazing? It exceeded my expectations, which were very low, but it's still not anything near 9 or 10/10 for me. It's just 4 minutes of the same thing. I was waiting for something new to happen when Mike's second verse started. Like maybe the effects could have disappeared, or something.

But LP always finds a way to grow on me. But I'm surprised that everyone universally LOVES LOVES LOVES this.

I think a lot of people are just used to LP doing story-driven videos. Because they ALWAYS do story-driven videos.

It's definitely not a conventional video, and the effects are sick. I watched it several times to try to catch every little thing.

In terms of what kind of video it is, despite being completely different, I see it as something like this:

It's not so much a story or a performance video. It's visual art, which I enjoy immensely.

Maybe I'm just easily impressed, but I think the video's pretty fucking cool.

You have a point. My problem though is that it reminds me too much of New Divide. Black background with the band members looking "funky." I agree that the art is stunning but I just wanted something else to happen. I actually greatly enjoyed the vid you just posted.

They're fucking kick ass if that's what you're meaning.

But yes. Visual art. That video had a bit more of a performance factor in it, but it's basically a means to an end. It's showing off art.

My only gripe about the video is that it was lacking Phoenix. The video is supposed to be about the band, and last time I checked, Phoenix IS part of the band :p

The video was awesome, beautiful and artistic. Absolutely love it. I think it fits the vibe and atmosphere of the song.

I absolutely love the shot of Chester opening his eyes in the beginning and Mike's Laz0rs! :D

His little rotating two-headed fusion thing was pretty dope.

I guess the elephant got tired of never appearing in a video and said, "If I can't be in the video, NO ONE WILL." Unfortunately for the elephant, he captured no one but poor Phi Phi, who made the best out of his like 1-2 scenes. xD

    Co-sign.

And I find that music videos with "stories" generally suck.

So I've watched it 5 times now. If I pretend that new divide never happened, this a great vid. Like a lot of people said, it captures the song well. 8.5/10.

This video is full of "wtf'ery"

But it's nice eye candy. I enjoyed watching all the effects.

This video + illegal substances = Pink Floyd's "The Wall" :D

    jk

Didn't read one comment before watching, and absolutely loved the video. Enjoyed it much more then The Catalyst (especially on first play), despite anyone claiming its simple, its kinda the beauty in simplicity type ordeal. The effects really worked well, and helped make a great atmospheric / ambient video. Better then The Catalyst? Maybe :p

    But I don't want Phoenix to be Waldo . . .
