With Hybrid Theory, "The Roots", the original idea was to blend the different musical aspects that each of the guys were into (trees take up various nutrients and water through different roots). Meteora functions as an extension of the roots, accepting the flow that was gathered up from the roots. With Minutes to Midnight, they started to branch out ("The Branches"), differentiating and striving for that fresh creative end. This came to fruition with A Thousand Suns, (the leaves/"Fruit" on the tree), that 48 minute musical journey chock-full of sweet cathartic goodness. From what it seems so far with what has been described about the new album, LIVING THINGS is the whole picture; each piece of the tree is equally important to the living thing.
