After so much hard work and putting out A Thousand Suns, there were no nominations for the guys It's sad to see for such a great album, particularly at one point Joe Hahn said that ATS is Grammy-worthy (and it really is!) Well, I guess they'll grab some attention after the 2011 World Tour. PS: About the low number of ATS sales, is that common for other artists nowadays or it's just LP?
When I found out that Grammy is also another fan vote prize, I haven't taken it seriously for the guys since then.
That's pretty sad, it would have been awesome if ATS had been nominated for best album. It would be cool if they performed at the Grammys though but I doubt that will happen. Do only nominees perform? I'm happy Muse got three nominations!
The Grammys are particularly ridiculous, not actually sure what made people trust these guys' judgment in the first place. The best hard rock category is fucking hilarious - Alice In Chains, Ozzy Osbourne, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots (and Them Crooked Vultures). Is it seriously 2010? In any case, Fuck You HAS to win best song.
Well, broadly speaking I wouldn't necessarily disagree, but if you're talking hard rock in particular I'd take older bands over stuff like Nickelback and what have you which is probably the most likely alternative.
In my opinion, if Them Crooked Vultures don't take that category, I give up entirely on the opinions of others. Oh wait, I already did.
You're probably right, but I'm sure they could sneak other good bands under the broad category of "hard rock" if they wanted to. If they're nominating all bands 15+ years past their prime they should probably just get rid of the award.
I don't understand why anyone's sad about this. Do you really want Linkin Park sitting next to all those other... "artists"? Frankly, I think the lack of nominations is a step in the right direction. For instance, I'm shocked to this day Meteora didn't get nominated for, oh... everything.
Well, I'm not to that extent to think that Linkin Park is the only 'artist' in the world, but I do think they are in the top of the game, and deserve something for that.
They got us, that is what they deserve. Such this huge fanbase, 3 big fan forums/webs, though it comes with a price, anti-fans.
Katy Perry is nominated for album of the year. Yeah. At least they threw me a bone and nominated Arcade Fire too. EDIT: As for the question about album sales, that's definitely not just LP, that's a sign of the times. More people are downloading now more than ever. Eminem's first week sales of 700,000 in the year 2010 was fucking ridiculous. But, he's the biggest artist of recent times, and rap seems to be a lot more popular than rock at the moment.
OMGGZZZ JUSTTTINN BIEBERRR WOONNN 22 GRAMMY NOMATIONS!!! ZOMG IM SO EXIIITTEDDDD!!!!!! =) Jk. The grammys are a joke.
I'm not sure if you caught the point of my post. (The Meteora comment was 100% sarcasm.) Like the posters above me said, the grammys are a joke. The nominations for these so-called artists are utterly terrible and undeserving. But I suppose no one would watch it if it didn't have bands and singers that no one has heard of. Does LP deserve something? Sure. But I'm waiting for something I can take more seriously than a grammy.
