And how can you be so sure? The band seems pretty confident with their actual sound.

I don't want Chester doing all the vocal stuff on the album, what I do want is have him contribute more (vocal terms) on Linkin Park songs. DBS is okay but LP songs are way better.
I agree that Mike's voice has the sadness/frustration that Chester couldn't capture (e.g. No Roads Left), but what I like him most is his rapping.
He could sing well but he still lacks a bit confidence singing live (been improving greatly since MSG as far as it seems).
I like songs where they exchange lines (BITS, Iridescent).
Maybe I'm just too obsessed with Chester's godly voice/screams, it's just too unique.

Chester's stated he doesn't want to scream anymore. If he holds to that I'm 100% okay with it. It's not that I don't love his screaming but the dude ain't getting no younger. Plus I really enjoy his singing in songs like BITS and Iridescent.

I hope to God that Joe plays more instruments. It sucks to see him just stand there 90% of the time during concerts.

This. Mike's voice is much more appealing to me and I love their soft songs so much.

I've noticed this, Mike sings better when he's singing more energetically. Point in fact, Pushing Me Away (reanimation)'s part where he sings is really awesome. And then the end of Blackout, it just sounds so awesome. But then compare that to Burning in the Skies, where live he sounds like he's struggling.

It seems kind of reversed of how it should be... I thought it'd easier to sing the soft songs...

Anyway, I'm hoping Mike sings a lot more on the next album, and that he sings At LEAST one song with lead vocals in it's entirety. (No Roads Left, In Between)

Jesse, I hope you don't think that the studio version of the PMA remix is Mike. That's Stephen Richards from Taproot .

I don't really care who sings as long as it sounds good, though obviously Chester is the more talented singer.

One thing I've always wanted LP to do is make creepy kind of NIN/Massive Attack-ish music. Linkin Park's sound is always very big and loud, to the point where it sounds almost melodramatic sometimes. Something kind of quiet/sinister would be awesome.

Why would I think that it's Mike? Mike sings it live and that's what I'm talking about man. When Mike sings live it sounds better when he's singing the more upbeat songs as opposed to the softer songs like Burning in the Skies.

    True.

I just don't want them to rush their next album. It's going to take even more effort, creativeness, time, and passion than what went into ATS to top ATS, in my opinion.

LP are back in the studio to work on a few (1-3) new songs for their upcoming greatest hits album entitled 'Linkin Park : Lies'

The album is tentatively scheduled for release in spring 2012.

Source: The accountant of Chester's sister's best friend's uncle!

Isn't speculation fun - ha ha

You're really cool on Mock The Week and Twitter and apparently your stand-up is great, but I'm afraid this is where I have to draw the line.

Everything Mike has done in that past 5 years makes me never want to hear him rap again.

Paramore is a very well known pop act and Hybrid Theory came out 10 years ago, it's not entirely condemning should Paramore would win in an MTV contest.

The new album should have at least one track with Mr Hahn on lead vocals! If you watch the live performances you can see him really getting into it and singing his heart out, hahaha.

    Sarcasm, lol.

    LMFAO.

    Tasty news.
I have the only wish (as many) to get more rapping... Fort Minor was such a great thing, and nobody would mind more Mike's rapping on this one i guess. I am curious the kind of direction they will take... at this point i feel safe to say LP is the most unpredictable band in the world when it comes to release a new album, anyone agrees with me?

    Radiohead, but I digress.
