I am not going to lie. That video has got me so excited. If this demo is in any way pointing to the next record, I can honestly say I have no idea what to expect. It's still got ATS synths but that melody was just so wild! And beat absolutely made that into a song. I live that mike posted this. It's so cool to see him actually making the demo. Wish the entire making of DVD would be like this.

I think that's the point Zane :). They're doing whatever the fuck they want, without any preconceived boundaries of what they were supposed to be as a band.

Although, I don't think this is an indicator of album 5. I just think it's Mike fucking around. Case in point: Lockjaw really didn't sound like anything on ATS.

Yeah he didn't seem like he was making music with a purpose, he looked like he was showing us what each of the dials did.

It look pretty nifty... I want one now. It costs more than textbook though ._.

That was pretty cool and that little synth is a beast! The demo or sample whatever it was sounded like something from early Nine Inch Nails or even something from Year Zero with the heavy industrial beat. Kind of reminded me of the intro to The Becoming by NIN. Anyway, I loved this video and hopefully Mike will show us more! Man I would seriously cream my pants if the next record is an industrial themed album.

This little demo has me excited! Even if its just another case of Lockjaw like the last album cycle, you can't help but get excited over what the future holds.

Also, that beat was awesome! :awesome:

Holy shit that is one insane piece of hardware right there. I wouldn't have a clue how to use it, but that synth would transform how my band writes music. And judging by this clip, it has transformed how LP do things too. Whether or not this is the direction LP is going, I can't help getting excited! :awesome:

I don't neccesarily think that the demo has any intentions of being "like" the new album but I do think it gives us a taste. Even the previous demos like Mike's glitch remix held a little resemblence to the new album.

Why is it even a topic of discussion as to whether a basic synth sequence and a minimalist MPC beat loop are "what the new album might sound like?" I'd certainly hope that Linkin Park is spending more than 5 minutes writing songs these days.

Shinoda seems to be treating it like any other piece of hardware, from what I can see. There are banks full of patches, and controls for tweaking them the sounds you can get from those patches. :)

Eh this is why I wish LP would become more like NIN were in the sense that they just release EPs/new material every 1-2 years. People are so desperate for new LP music that they treat every synth loop as a new song. It's insane and silly at the same time.
