Jay-Z and Kanye West - Watch the Throne : Coming Soon

This is pretty how I'm expecting to feel about it.

 

I think it's fine the way it is, length wise, but a few songs need to be replaced by the ones on the deluxe edition. I get why they exist and why it's on the deluxe verison, but, fuck. People should hear "Why I Love You", I think. That shit is dope as FUCK. Alternatively, people don't need to hear "Lift Off". At all. Ever.

 

I didn't have any expectations for this, but the album rules. Niggas In Paris is fun as fuck.

 

I agree with Casey, Swizzy needs to drop of from the scene. He has 9 bad beats for every good one.

Why I Love You: Mr H kills the chorus
The Joy : sample is tooo good
Who Gon Stop me: dubsteppiness
Otis: Grew on me, the sample goes hard

No Church in the Wild : same

Other songs are kinda meh

 

Definitely disappointing. I got pretty much what I was expecting: a lot of self-celebratory lyrics and (sub par) braggadocio rap. It doesn't cut it for me. Most of the beats are pretty horrible too. But I liked these tracks:

I quite enjoyed it to be honest. Alot of good songs on there imo.

I don't know specific points, but he's only in it twice. He's the guy in the suit. He's clearly visible at one time, standing next to (I think) Kanye when he's standing in the doorframe of that car, doing maybe his first verse.

 

Sick ass video... too bad I can't say the same for the song.

Poor poor Maybach.

 

Couldn't even listen to the whole album. Just not my thing.

 

OTIS and No Church in the Wild are good. But overall, it's not even as good as Kanye's last album.

 

As hit or miss as it is, ultimately I like this album a lot more than I thought I would.

 

It's a fun album for the most part. And Murder To Excellence is a reeeally good song imo.
