Never said I don't like the genre or anything. Because I do. Why am I being ignorant when I say it'll die out? All music trends die out eventually.
Well, for one the only one of those bands I would really call pop rock are Simple Plan being as they're pretty much at the poppiest extreme of pop-punk, but that's just semantics. Secondly, bands along those lines such as All Time Low and Boys Like Girls are getting bigger and bigger.
Woah, hey! if Back then, you mean the 60's & 70's then I'll have to painfully disagree with you! Compared to now, almost everything on the radio was brilliant in the 60's. The Shadows The Ventures The Beach Boys The Beatles Bob Dylan The Rolling Stones Eric Clapton Cream Pink Floyd The Yardbirds Fleetwood Mac Led Zeppelin muddy Walters Tom Jones Jim Hendrix The Stooges Jonny Cash Lynyrd Skynyrd ZZ Top Quincy Jones Stevie Wonder Michael Jackson ETC.............. And they where all POP music of that time. And even if your aren't into old school rocknRoll or Blues/soul you'll have to admit how these classic artists have inspired everything else that has followed. Thats why compared to now, most mainstream music is pretty poor and forgettable. With so much talent back then compared to now there was probably too much to choose from. the 80's weren't too bad either, but in the 90's pop music really started to go down hill.
Dubstep is a fad that will die out soon. Electro is hot right now... that will die soon (from the mainstream). Most of mainstream hip-hop is crap but I don't see it dying out anytime soon. It will keep on evolving like it has from the 90s to the early 00s to now. And no, there are LOADS of great rap out there... don't jump the gun by calling the genre out without listening to the good stuff.
I was poking a little humour when I said it was "talking behind a beat." I wasn't trying to denounce the genre by any means. I was just trying to say that it will leave the mainstream eventually because mainstream is always changing.
hip-hop isn't a trend, or a fad. dubstep is a fad. horrorcore is a fad. emo is a fad. hip-hop/rap/rock/electronic/folk/etc are not fads, and will not die out. only the less exciting subgenres of each will "die out".
Those are just thirty artists out of what, hundreds of other one hit wonders that existed back then. And yeah, what I said doesn't really apply to 60's and 70's, but there were some bad music back then too. Mostly good though. It really began from the Rise of popularity of Michael Jackson (u know, early 80's). That's when tons of one hit wonders came. Yeah, some pop was amazing back then, but some were really bad too.
Fair enough! But all i wanted to point out was that there was more talent on the radio than there is now And yeah, you can't escape from one hit wonders no matter what generation your from. I'm sure a lot of them were still good, but sadly i can't think of any - which proves your point.
Anyone could probably make a list as long as that for the 00s/90s tbh. It'll look pretty good in twenty years too.

You can't say this generation music sucks without saying the 80s were way worse. Only good things to come out of the 80s were AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Run DMC. As for this generation, with music like Angels & Airwaves, P.O.S., and Old Crow Medicine Show, I think its pretty great actually.
If you wanna say that ... not every artist at that time was The Rolling Stones and not every artist now is Tinie Tempah.
lol I'm not saying that it should be like constant topic or anything, but its like this generation is completely oblivious, I just think there should be a more serious tone to pop music. They're either singing about partying or bitching about some inconsequential thing. Its just made everyone in my generation so ignorant and self centered
