puzzle 4 is the odd one out, so maybe we should look into the code for puzzle 4?

Significant to the programmers at least.

The purpose of comments in general is to leave notes for other developers (and themselves) on the project, especially so that they don't forget what they've written in the future. If developers are using magic numbers to refer to images, then it would be stupid as a programmer to NOT leave a note on the matter somewhere so that they don't forget what they are. Or otherwise confuse themselves. Those numbers aren't exactly mnemonic.

WHICH COULD MEAN that those numbers may be used for a practical development purpose rather than being part of the cipher. So this is actually kinda depressing news. ON the other hand, why such strange names? To prevent fans from guessing and hacking the system?

What if 5 & 4 mean that we need to decode every 5th and 4th number? For example, every 5th and 4th number would correspond to a letter, and together they'd form a word/phrase...

It hasn't been for about 70 pages now. We have no information on how to solve this puzzle. The band is expecting us to solve a puzzle with really not much of a clue to go off of, so we're just grasping at straws, running around in circles and acting stupid. It's really quite fun!

I'm not sure, it could be an anagram, which #1 would be "A CAFE CHEF"

Makes perfect sense to me

No, 1 = A becuase A is the first letter in the alphabet, and first = 1

I followed logic and this website told me so.

It's a try but with that straightforward method (A=1, B=2) you're disregarding double digit letters, so you won't see any letters beyond I.. Double digit letters should also be considered if that was the case but it would be really hard to tell when you got it.

There's no reason for the images to be referenced with numbers like that though. In fact, the the images already have references in the form of an id corresponding to each piece that is just 1-16, so from a programmers point of view, I'd say these numbers are important to the puzzle.
