I guess my opinion is different with everyone else here. I am of the belief that the other guys do more than people give them credit for. Plus I disagree with the statement above. If Mike left the others could pick up the slack, and Mike's voice is much less unique than Chester's
If Chester left/died/was somehow unable to continue, I think they'd call it a day. Either split up entirely or continue under a different name. Mike is the heart & driving force of LP. He writes the lions share of the music & LP's signature BIG sound is all down to him. They didn't nickname him "the glue" for no reason. And he's a workaholic. I just don't see the other guys having the necessary skills or drive to pick up the slack. It's like Nirvana vs Alice In Chains. Cobain dies, Nirvana have to quit because he was the songwriter. Staley dies, AiC can continue because Cantrell was/is the main songwriter & half did half the vocals. LP are like AiC in that regard.
Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda are two parts of a creative puzzle. They work great on their own (DBS/FM), but Linkin Park as a band cannot exist without the two of them. Their combined contributions (vocally and lyrically) are what set the band apart. Hybrid Theory would have never sold 10 million records without Chester's incredible voice, but they'd also just be an average rock band if it weren't for Mike's creative input. Only solution would be continuing under a different name.
well the thing is Chester's voice is very good and if he would leave the songs would lose a lot in quality and who knows how many lyrics to the songs he wrote also ,here is for example a guy who auditioned for LP when Mark Wakefield left the band he is good but nowhere near as good as Chester.
how do u know he auditioned? and anyone else besides Chester? also, my answer to the question is nah...i mean sure the band continued after Mark Wakefield..changed the name twice but Mark sucked. Chester is amazing and there is no way the band could get another vocalist. Its Chester that boosted the bands fanbase.
My thoughts at the moment are that LP would continue under a different name, but only with Mike, Brad, Rob and Phoenix.. hopefully.
check out this interview http://rockezine.com/asp/rez_ainterview.asp?ID=193&interview=Epidemic with Boris Bouma who knows how many singers Jeff Blue recommended and Chester happen to be exactly what they where looking for.
Not having Chester in the Band would mean LP would go alot more into the hip hop direction. And idk, it wouldn't really be linkin park anymore.
If either Mike or Chester vanished from the LP family, it simply would not be LP anymore. I'd hate it if they tried to go on with the "Linkin Park" name if either of those two were gone. It wouldn't be Linkin Park anymore, but a different entity entirely. I'd much rather they take a different form entirely and change their name. Linkin Park needs Mike and Chester, together, or there is no Linkin Park.
This. Mike, Brad and Rob have all stated that they think Chester is ''the best singer in the world'' or ''the best singer of this entire generation'' said Mike. I personally believe Chester is the best singer of all time, but even people I know that absolutely hate LP, agree that he does have a good voice. I think it's too far along in their career to even think about replacing their lead singer, if he were to leave or get fired, I am confident that LP would call it quits and Mike would go off to make his own music.
No I don't think they'd continue if Chester left, the same as if Mike left. As said, they'd need every ounce of luck in history to replace them, and it wouldn't be the same, so I'm trying not to think about what I would do if it happened.
