THIS! I agree 100%. While Mike is the most versatile member of the band that doesn't mean Chester or any of the other member aren't multi talented too. I just thought I'd throw in my opinion, but both Mike AND Chester are the heart of the band, and if either of them left, Linkin Park would be no more, and yes they would have to carry on under a different name. I hope to God this never happens, and I'd hate it if any of them left the band.
yes Chester is a huge part of linkin park but i remember mike saying that linkin park is his life so without Chester i think they would continue with songs like no roads left. but in my opinion Chester will never leave.
If, hypothetically, Chester left and they tried to go on under the "Linkin Park" name, live shows would be nearly impossible. Can you imagine Mike trying to sing Lying From You? And if they got a replacement singer for Chester...I'd die inside. You can't replace that man.
I really hope it NEVER happens. I would probably shoot myself. Okay maybe I'm exaggerating slightly, but my point stands.
Linkin Park couldn't continue because I can't think of another singer who would be versatile enough to sing Chester's parts but I could see the other five guys making some good music and continuing the spirit of "hybrid theory" (not the band name or the album but the concept).
Most likely not. Chester was the last piece of puzzle that inspired the band to become Linkin Park. So without him, i don't think they will continue on as Linkin Park. It doesn't in anyway mean they won't continue on as something else or not. But lets get serious. Chester would never leave the band. It's as much his baby as Mike's. I can't see him abandoning something he created with his blood and sweat.
i`ll be really sad if chester left the band it wouldn't be the same without chester please he is my idol
Yes. They will. So Linkin Park would release a CD next year, the CD would be a dreadful garbage and then the band would split.
Chester Bennington might be an extremely talented vocalist, but Mike Shinoda is the creative brains behind Linkin Park's success IMO. So I think Linkin Park could continue without Chester Bennington, but I think the band would fall apart without Mike Shinoda. Though, I must admit, that it would be hella weird listening to Linkin Park without Chester.
All the people who are currently riding the insane "Mike is a better singer than Chester" bandwagon wouldn't be affected. That is until the band's live shows would be completely crippled.
I hadn't seen this thread (like some said above, it kinda died ) But I'd just like to give my opinion on it. I don't think they would continue, and I don't think they could ever replace him. The first being a consequence of the second, and even when having Mike who can sing and rap on the record, he just doesn't have enough of a vocal range to become a full singing act, and the cohesiveness and "hybrid-ness" of the sound would be greatly affected, Chester and Mike complement each other and make something unique, we've seen them both on their own ways (though Mike didn't sing at all on Fort Minor), and you can see it's not the same impact. People who like Linkin Park didn't necessarily like Dead by Sunrise or Fort Minor, but when they're both together, with the rest of the guys, they do awesome shit. And, the whole band being as close to each other as they are, I don't think they would want to replace him.
Lol it doesn't mean much. He still wouldn't have the range to keep the band as interesting as they are.
I don't think anyone here has ever said Mike is a better singer than Chester. I just know that some of us (me included) prefer his voice over Chester's.
